who should resign over later saturdays
the top brass at the union must be aware of the ammount of hostility towards any notion of later saturdays so if it gets voted against will those who proposed this fall on their own swords and resign.
we know when we started the job we had to work on a saturday morning but to ask us to vote to work well into the afternoon is nothing short of disgracefull.
there have been many posts on this subject and as much as i am sorry to add another one to the list after 30 odd year service this plan has riled me no end.
its allways said that a union is only as strong as its members but this union will have to listen or there will be no members left.

The only thing we all know is that the work plan is such that later saturdays is what royal mail want for they have geared it that way!. We can but wait and see or make our voices heard on this and many issues!.mailman71 wrote:the top brass at the union must be aware of the ammount of hostility towards any notion of later saturdays so if it gets voted against will those who proposed this fall on their own swords and resign.

As for our self-serving so-called leaders, resigning would require them to have some sort of sense of honour, something, I don't believe they possess.

Re: who should resign over later saturdays
u probably all ready know this but its all to do with them wanting to run the machines monday to sat.
and they dont not want to use the machines on sat .
after all they did jsut spend a few billion quid on them...
im not sure the union would of been able to push them on this one - im afraid.

Re: who should resign over later saturdays
Later saturdays = no vote from many thousands of our co-workers.
More strikes to come if that is the case.
If RM don't understand that and our negotiators can't achieve that, the business will have signed it's suicide note because we will not give way on that issue. People have families , relationships and lives outside work at weekends. And that rules over anything that goes on inside work. It is what we live for.

Re: who should resign over later saturdays
just phoned a union rep to see what is happening about later saturdays and why we cant keep saturdays as an early finish . all he said was that royal mail dont want to of spent millions on these seqencing machines and not run them 6 days a week so it means by the time the mail reaches us it will be later plus we will have longer delivery spans . what a great union the one day we want to o football or be with family they shaft us. oh i did get a you may only have to do one in every three saturdays . well thats no good if you have a season ticket or want to spend more time with your kids . the whole thing stinks and i wonder what the hell we went on strike for . what have we gained sweet fa

the only solution to working late on saturdays is some kind of incentive.....

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: who should resign over later saturdays
Who should resign! what a bloody joke! I understand you don't like the fact that this job entails a 6 day delivery plan. Tell you what how about a 5 day delivery so RM can get rid of more Jobs! Your are only paid for 40 hours a week there are 168 hours in a week. That leaves 128 hours to have a life! As for missing footy! If you did not have the job you couldn't afford the bloody season ticket. Did you really think that things were going to stay the same. Every job in every industry is under pressure. Now if you want to address the situation you have to change the political steer of labour party because the Tories are chaffing at the bit to get at us! They remember the 1990s! I also can't see any future industrial action which is long term (all out until?) allowing us to stay as we are. Pick and choose your time don't rush head down because that usually ends up with a police baton around the head!

Re: who should resign over later saturdays
Bring the collections forward say 3 hours so instead of 5pm to 6pm the last collection will be 2pm to 3pm!. It would make the work plan run on time but business nor the public would be happy nor the post office's but i doubt it would make royal mail change it's plans for all they care next day delivery could be at 11pm and do you think you would get night allowance not a chance!.POSTMAN wrote:What would be the option then,RM have spent squillions on these fecking things, they have the right to do that, they want to run them for the 6 days, can ANYONE see another option.
