lets get a union rep on here to tell us if they are trying to get us early saturdays as everyone is pxssxd off with hearing about later finishes on saturdays . i thought we were the union and they were trying to get us a good deal . all that crap about we cant be mon-fri as loads of jobs would go well they are going anyway so get us a mon-fri and let sat be overtime or part timers wanting to bump there money up. why cant we ask our union to suggest that one be put to hq. anyone got any comments on this

Any unwanted, unnecessary, intrusion into what little quality time we have on Saturdays, we should all demand from our local branches, a ballot of the members in the affected offices for industrial action by way of a strike, strikes to be carried out, on Saturdays.
Our Irish compatriots did this, now a posties job in Eire is a Mon-Fri job. If they can do it, so can we.

Funny I can remember in my delivery office everyone after a 5 day week, then moaning like Hell if they could not work their day off as an SA.

well said dirty harry . how do we go about getting the whole country to get a vote going on the idea of mon-fri who do we contact to get the ball rolling otherwise if we just sit here and do nothing it will get voted in later saturdays by any means even a fiddled vote. and then thousands of posties will leave the job . maybe thats what the bosses and union want and they al get a bonus for achieving that

what im saying is you can work overtime if you want on a saturday but also have the choice to be mon-fri so everyone gets what they want. a happy workforce would then benefit us and royal mail plus morale picks up and everyone works harder and enjoys coming to work. if not morale is crap people will be pxsxd off and will have the cant be bothered attitude

This will be complicated, and will require a little patience, but basically, as the top dogs in the union are landing this in our laps at local level, I cannot for the life of me see many, if any, DOs voting to accept longer and later Saturday attendances.
My guess is, that Royal Mail's greedy, selfish, self-serving, executive management, will enforce longer and later working on Saturdays.
The moment, the very moment, executive action is introduced to an individual office, demand a ballot of your members from your branch, for strike action, strikes to occur on the Saturdays that Royal Mail want to ruin for all of us. It will be a snowball effect, once one office having been attacked goes to ballot, so will the next, and the next, and the next.
Softly, softly, catchee Monkey, as the saying goes.
In the meantime, VOTE NO, until we're given a clear agreement that actually benefits postal workers in the long term.

I've heard a rumour, that the top bods in the union here in London, are to instruct branches to recommend a NO vote to their members.
I just hope colleagues elsewhere in the country don't fall over themselves to adopt Royal Mail's latest bunch of crap, even if the "lump sum and carrot" brigade do stuff us all up and vote it in, just as I fear they did regarding the totally insane 2007 pay & modernisation bunch of crap.

I don't know if it just me or not, but people getting packets or sign fors never look to happy being disturbed on a saturday either  . why not set up a seperate saturday delivery charge. Customers could then decide when ordering if they wanted packets or sign fors to be delivered on a saturday or not. The extra revenue would help to cover costs of posties who want to work saturdays. Then other posties inc me could stay at home with their families :Very Happy . Has anyone polled customers re:- is a saturday service wanted? :hmmmm

You will find that not everyone will have to have a late saturday, for instance if your DO has the wsm in it or is very near to the office who has it then they wont have a late sat, which could swing them to a yes vote.

Those furthest will no doubt vote no.

We in our office are based in the office with the said walk sorting machines but we get our mail last as they have to get the mail for the sub offices out before us in our own office they have a work plan/pipeline so you could be in the same office as the machines and be last as we are!.

The man on the moon was a hoax - how many have you seen there in the last 35 years, speaking of hoaxes - how good do you think this deal will be and how late will you be working on Saturday.
