HEARD on the grape vine distribution function was to cease under new agreement, all work going to delivery + logistics. Plenty of managers + area reps for the chop ?

By distribution do you mean collections?
Can't see that happening, well not for a long while yet.

So all collections would be done by DOs and all runs to MCs to DOs (generally in 600s) and all airport runs (where a MC has an airport associated with it) would go over to logistics? Would all drivers become cross-functional (doing some processing work like sorting letters, at times when there are no runs to go out or lorrys/vans to load/unload) or would they get their hours cut?

EDIT: Just thinking about it, having DOs do collections would make them probably 9-5 or 10-6 Mon-Sat

You are on the right track there as this is the plan for our office.

Town deliveries/collections 10-6, rural deliveries/collections 9-5

RE: Collections,at least round my may, with later start times the 1st couple of waves COULD be done by us on deliverys, leaving the rest of it to be done on SA or part timers.
This is something that i've heard about, which i've just remembered.

Drivers already do this in my MC. They start on packet sorting, and after their collections they have to
go on the facing tables.
We have just had a fit up (signing for unfilled duties) and 15 drivers have come off driving. This is going
to cause major problems for management.
When there is a full resign of duties most of the drivers will probably come off driving.

Drivers at my MC do large packet sorting and are on the tipping tables when not driving. If they get transferred to logistics, would that stop them from working in processing as they would be not paid for anymore out of the MC's budget? if they are stopped from working in processing then they would probably find their hours get cut. On the other hand it would probably mean that MCs don't have to cut so many hours in April.

How are delivery staff going to be able to cover collections? We barely have to time to do our deliveries let alone add more work onto us, as for the staff, they're looking to cut our staffing again so we won't be able to take any of them.

im guessing RM think that because of the walk sequencing, that will cut your prep time, leaving spare hrs to do collections,if they juggled around your duty??
same as it ever was...

If all the duties get transferred collections (over to DOs) and runs between MCs & DOs (to logistics) would they still come under the MC bugets or would all the relevant hours get transfered to DOs and logistics?

In our office a number of driving duties have been changed. start 1030hrs and complete a full delivery then return to the office and complete a full collection finishing 1830hrs. Sat working is a full del plus prep starting 0630 to 1430. In theory the walks will be prepped during the week prior to taking them out in a light van {2 men 2 walks per van}. Planning , budget, have all been completed. As you can imagine the start date has been put back countless times, due to: manning, health issues etc. this is the possible future for distribution in delivery offices where collections are cut back. Are there any other offices out there running a similar scheme and does it work?

I heard the middle of last year that it's all going to Logistics. Plans were made that long ago!
