Re: Hi Visability Vests
we are all vised up in our DO, probably because we have to walk thru the vehicle yard to get in and we don't have a banksman...............i agree with the others, its not restrictive and if you have an accident on duty, the first thing RM will say is 'were you wearing your hi vis?' think on people............

Re: Hi Visability Vests
you missed the point mate, why cant i just wear my own t shirt if i wish? if a hi vis covers it up anyway whats the difference? in the summer id like to wear a thin t shirt on hot days.Urban Smith wrote:Can't believe I'm wasting my time reading this. No wonder RM is going down the pan !coxie wrote:if you have to wear them then whats the point in having royal mail shrits? nobody can see them. At my office they advise you do wear them and they really inforce it sometimes but other times not, so i dont know the official word on this either.
What would you rather wear under your Hi Vis ?
If it rains and you have to wear Raincoat and Waterproof trousers would you want to strip off underneath because no one can see your UNIFORM ???

It's know as a uniform.
Must admit I luv it when it rains and I have to wear long waterproofs. it allows me to wear my High Heel boots.

Can see why drivers, cyclists need to wear them but seriously do you really need to wear them when your walking on the footpath???? I don't wear one when I walk to the pub for Christs sake and wait.....oh yes, I haven't been run over!! If a car mounts the pavement for whatever reason what bloody good is a hi-vis going to do?!?!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: Hi Visability Vests
we have to wear them on the platforms, warehouse area (where there is a fork truck), and yard (we need to cross this to get to our smoke area) we need to wear steel toe capped boots if we need to work in the warehouse area "no boots-no bunce" is the logo (again covering any toe crushing bad forklift driving, should it occur,or if a box/bag falls on your foot hmm ) anything that saves an accident from happening is ok by me to be honest..now if we can get the dsa overweight bag problem sorted...ooh i forgot, they will soon be sending mail already trayed up, i wonder who will supply the trays? (as well as the yorks)

Re: Hi Visability Vests
Hold on a mo.We used to only have to wear them to 1st point of delivery and on the way back to office.Quite frankly I couldnt be arsed to take mine off,and I did get hit by a car doing a 3 point turn in a road.Mounted the pavement and ran me over.I got the sorry didnt see you etc.I only had a bruise, but the first thing I was asked was ...I hope you were wearing a hi-viz as you now know its compulsory, blah blah blah.Dim changing the goalposts in our office so the dim covers his arse. The following week at wtll it was made compulsory to wear all the time.DB1100 wrote:I have been saying this for years, its completely stupid to wear them whilst walking on the pavement , I hate the bl##dy thingsjust_nuke_it wrote:Can see why drivers, cyclists need to wear them but seriously do you really need to wear them when your walking on the footpath???? Re: Hi Visability Vests
We have to wear ours all the time and they are pretty hard on you if you don't but a few months ago i was out on delivery and this chap was driving along the road shaving in his mirror had one of my customers not pulled me out of the way i think i could have had a nasty bump he mounted the pavement drove along it before he was aware that he was heading for me and a wall to a customers drive the chaps face was a picture as he tried to avoid both i ware a yellow vis jacket with sleeves so i was a little surprised when he said i did'nt see you
