Quick Atos Question
Currently off work with a broken bone in my hand which was sustanined on duty last week.I have been signed off by the orthapedic doctor for the next 4 weeks and already atos have been on my back trying to arrange a phone interview. The bone that is broken is in a posistion that it cannot be placed in a cast and had to be maipulated back into position, therefore any contact and the bone will just splinter and re-break.I work in delivery.
Can I just tell them to "do one and i am not coming back to work until i am cleared by a doctor not a occupational therapist"
Would there be any comeback if I did this, just find the whole thing very underhanded and bordering on harrasment

Re: Quick Atos Question
you can ask what questions your line manager, dom and attendance-evr-ihr manager has asked, once they have told you, you can then state that at this moment you are not in a fit state to answer such questions and inform atos whom will agree that your gp will only issue a sick note if they feel it is warrented. get well soonBarneyBoots wrote:Currently off work with a broken bone in my hand which was sustanined on duty last week.I have been signed off by the orthapedic doctor for the next 4 weeks and already atos have been on my back trying to arrange a phone interview. The bone that is broken is in a posistion that it cannot be placed in a cast and had to be maipulated back into position, therefore any contact and the bone will just splinter and re-break.I work in delivery.

Just answer their questions and say you will be back when cleared by your Doc. Don`t feel bullied or stressed about Atos, they are just reading from a script.
If they want anymore medical info , tell them to contact your Doc, as you are not one.

LOl you are right there, they do the work for DWP, and are responsible for the medical part of the new ESA that replaces Income support.
So far they have refused 95% of applications for ESA according to the Daily Mail . So all the disabled people on Income Support are now according to Atos , fit for some, sort of work ???

Re: Quick Atos Question
I understand that you and many others want to tell them to eff off, but dont degrade yourself.
If you believed you were in need of medical advice you would seek out a doctor wouldn't you ?
If ATOS had the power they think they have they would be telling your doctor if they can sign you off or not.

This is what in effect Atos are doing in respect of ESA. They are ignoring not only the doctor , but specialists to.
The message boards of many disabilitys are full of this topic, people already dealing with a disability, full of despair at how they are being treated by Atos.

Re: Quick Atos Question
Seems reasonable, just tell atos that your off for 4 weeks and not going against the doctors advice. Say you can have a look at my medical records, they would only ask about your hand and chances are they wont bother or your doctor wont reply, but you agreeing looks good. You may like them to telephone you before you return to ask for a temporary change of duties for a few weeks as you build up strength in your hand again. Also, if this does not suit, to place less strain on your hand, you could inquire about a phased return to work/rehabilitation where you do 4 hours a day for your first week, 5 second, 6 third, 7 fourth, but only after the 4 full weeks is up. Do half a day but get paid for a whole one, after all rm did this to you and they know it.

Re: Quick Atos Question
Once again, cheers for the advice. My main gripe and i may be making mountains out of molehills but it just seems like the whole attitutude of Royal Mail is
"We dont believe you,we dont believe your doctor so we are going for a second opinion"
Ok,fair eough if I was calling in every other saturday sick after a friday night session, but its a broken bone sustained at work for gods sake.Surely a bit of common sense comes into play !! Mind you,we all know that common sense and Royal Mail do not go hand in hand anymore !!

Re: Quick Atos Question
Be very wary as I have experiences that doms dont like what they here they complain, and tell Atos lies that you are doing stuff that you sholdnt be and they take the dom as a respected individual and not the slimey creep he realy is. ATOS job is to get you back to work and only rwad from a script so if your dom muddies the water they think your faking it ask your dom to give you copies of all questions asked about you then you will catch them out.

Re: Quick Atos Question
Have found ATOS to be helpful.
Insist on a copy of the referral and of the report, your darling DOM/Lino may not be so keen to let you see what questions they have asked....insist.
When the report comes back they may not be happy with that either as you may be on reduced hours. Some will be glad to have you back rather than you being paid for doing cock all.
My experience with ATOS has been good, if you need to use HELP do so it all looks good on the report, doing everything possible to minimise the amount of time off.
If your GP is to give a report you are entitled to see that before he sends it.....view it.....also make sure that you view the questions that ATOS ask him.
Nothing frustrates incompitent Managers like a 'good' ATOS report. I think it is expensive for hem to have them done.

Re: Quick Atos Question
Funnily enough my experience with ATOS was good too. I was off with knee problems for a couple of weeks and was prepared to go back on full duties but ATOS insisted that I only did half a walk until I saw a specialist. This took 3 months and the specialist said I needed a knee replacement and ATOS insisted that I stay on half duties until i had it. Bloody managers went mental and referred me back to ATOS every few weeks who simply said the same thing.
Make sure you get the reports from the managers. They will probably try to fob you off but insist- it is your right to have this information.
