I have left out the "I don't see why we should have a political fund" as a choice because if you disagree with it in principle then you already have the option of opting out in reality.

6 options and your allowed 3 choices - I have tried to make it so that there are 2 different scenarios for each choice.

We shouldn’t pay any MP, they get plenty of dosh from the state!!!! Wages, allowances, communications allowance.


A MP does not need any money from the unions, the CWU does not give money to Labour MP'Sthe money goes to the bank accounts in the name of the Labour Party. It does not go direct to the MP!!!!


Support the centre left progressives as and when they need some help, scrap affiliation to Labour and do not affiliate to a political party ever again.

Ed has pledged to give money back out of his MP's wage (if elected) to the Pboro trades council and local community groups

To get Ed elected will need those TUC unions active in the city to support him by recomending him to their members and giving financial support to Peterborough Labour party to help with the campainging costs.

You do not have to pay the political levey as part of your union subs.

See your rep or phone HQ to have this levey stopped.

People who support us on any issue should do so because they believe that it is the right thing to do. We shouldn't have to pay them any money. If we want to hire mercenaries, the best people to pay would be those most useful in the battlefield of negotiations, i.e. barristers and lawyers.

The CWU is used by the Labour Party to incubate its politicians. They start off as councillors before graduating to MPs.

Are branches allowed to vote to give any surplus funds to political causes?

Is more money given to the Labour Party in this way than through the Political Fund?

I may be wrong on this but wasnt this supposed to be a motion at last years conference??? But got talked out!!!
Hope it will appear this year and i hope it is given time to debate.
We should have broken financial links to Labour in 1997 when they failed to repeal the tory trade union laws. Many unions have done so and saved £££s. We should follow and reform the center left from a trade union view point and challenge the old school parties at elections with our own candidates. Or a coalition of trade union candidates from across the country in areas where each union is strongest.

Talked out every year, even splitting the PF into two funds one for general political stuff and the other for Labour party gets obliterated.

Changed the tax rules on pensions funds and turned a healthy fund into the biggest deficit known, :arrrghhh
