Leighton’s secret plan to buy BHS chain from Green

by Jenny Davey

THE chairman of Royal Mail, Allan Leighton, has been in secret negotiations to buy BHS, the department store chain, from Sir Philip Green, the retail billionaire.

Leighton, who is also chairman of BHS, assembled several banks to acquire the retail business and was in negotiations to buy the 80-year-old company for a number of weeks. But in the past few days talks have stalled and are unlikely to be resumed.

Green put forward a series of conditions that Leighton had to meet before buying the group, which is worth about £700m.

Sources close to Green say the talks were a one-off and the business is no longer for sale.

Green said this weekend: “I had a conversation with Allan [Leighton] that sounded like an interesting idea on the basis that the BHS business would have been retained in its existing form with no change to the workforce and with possible additional product categories.

“Having explored this possibility for various reasons it didn’t come about.â€

That man can only concentrate on one thing , his bank balance and how to increase it. We all know BHS would go
the same way as every other company which has been unlucky enough to endure his need for greed , a pale shadow of
it's former self. :d'oh!

Still , at least Al would be ok , eh ? Even if his workforce had to face poverty wages , and a hard retirement.

I wonder if leighton is related to a certain Robert Maxwell. Pilfering money from the businesses he's involved in without a care for the meagre worker :lfo

cruisey How dare you. Maxwell was a bully, liar, made himself rich from the workers, sacked 1000's. Stole the pension fund without caring for the workers.

See nothing like Leighton ????????????????????????? There again, the only difference is the colour of the shirt :d'oh! :d'oh! :d'oh! :d'oh!

Leihton and Crozier aren't mentioned on here (because it's a Yank film) but they fit the bill of 'Toxic Leaders' and the DUM's, screws and strike breakers are willing follwers.

Come come, "ROCKY" be brave, April will soon be with us, only 9 months to go, and if we continue to drive the `LITTLE sh***s` book sales down, he may go before then? Now the interesting part is who can the Pratt`s in government get to replace him in April, any takers? Would you want to come into the Company at that time with possible IA, having gone on/still going on?
