I'll be with you on that, if those at the top meddle with the status quo regarding Saturdays.

If the walks are going to increase under any new deal then to still have a 4 day week, you would have to have an even longer delivery span.
How would that be possible?
Who would want to do it?
There is nothong in the mix where the delivery span would nationally go longer then 3.5hrs as far as we are aware.

which is what I do and it is great!!! so that gets my vote
I want that in my Office, but there don't seem to be much effort in sorting that out, so its rotating day

I would love a long week off.

i'd have liked the week off thing, we have a few in our office, all full time reserves. but when we did the last resign just over a year ago, they said they wouldn't be adding any more of these, as they weren't really workable.

when i was talking about four day weeks with one of our line managers, he was saying the delivery spans would have to be longer, as there may not be enough work inside. i feel sure i could manage it for four days, especially if the park and loop thing goes with it, and i don't have to carry heavy bags any more. i'm imagining the park and loop could be adapted any way you like once you're out there, the main problem probably being whether or not you end up working with a suitable partner.

It has to be 4 day weeks

46 weeks x 4 = 184
- 7 bank holidays = 177 Working days :chuckle Less then half a year :dance

Oh and not that i'm surgesting - 8 days sick (2 weeks if timed right! so no stages ) leaves 169 days :no no

Half Of our office 36 salks do five weeks on x 6 days one week off the other half do rotating day off

as long as you have 6 people to do it should not be too hard to implement, must admit 4 days on looks interesting

must say i agree anyone who can do six days on the trot in delivery can't have walks too bad and the way the future looks nobody should be tied down into 6 day weeks even with the 6th week off, your body needs a rest.

Contracted hours may possibly influence the answer to your last question, I disscussed 4 day week with my DOM last week, he couldnt see how a 10 hour day would be filled out in our D.O but the majority of PT are 30 hour week at my D.O which would mean a 7.5 hour day which as I pointed out to the DOM is a lot easier to fill than 10 hours. You could get away witha smaller span on 7.5 hour day compared to a 10 hour day.

Where 10 hour days are introduced the extra is usually taken up by doing post box and post office collections after your duty, and therefore at the moment is mainly being applied to existing driving duties such as Rurals, Firms etc

There is a danger that one of the requirements for a 10 hour duty span will be a insistence from RM that you are prepared to take on driving duties, which not all employees want to do of course.
