"Signature Required" endorsed in red is a simple and clear instruction.

Re: foreign recorded packets/letters
The only ones that I don't get a signature for are certain Irish ones that have a barcode but they don't scan into the PDAs but they say 'No Signature Required' and because they all come from the locker they are just put through as delivered by the PHG before they even go out.

So are you suggesting that you or I have more idea of what is or isn't genuine than someone working in an international section who ensorses some letters 'Signature Required' but not others ?krussel wrote:Most scan now on the PDA so they get a sig. Barcode or not, if someone has paid extra for a Registered or other such premium service then they can expect to get confirmation of delivery.

Re: foreign recorded packets/letters
Well the ones without a barcode are quite rare now and normally have a hand written number which wont be accepted by the pda anywayLounge Lizard wrote:So are you suggesting that you or I have more idea of what is or isn't genuine than someone working in an international section who ensorses some letters 'Signature Required' but not others ?krussel wrote:Most scan now on the PDA so they get a sig. You can try and enter the number using the keyboard on the PDA
The reason i question if its genuine is because i have bought some things off Ebay from a Hong Kong supplier and each time i choose not to take out the insurance but he sticks a signed for sticker on it anyway and writes on a number (my postman just delivers it anyway

If it says signature Required i scan it it if the PDA says invalid barcode i use the old paper method. If it comes from the locker and the PDA says no sig i still use the old paper method, if i've signed for something i sure not parting with it till i've got a signature. No red sticker gets posted thats what i've been told by 2 lino's and one dom.

We've been told the number has to be entered in manually, that way the PDA will accept it, and it makes the item traceable.
The Irish ones defo scan though, I've noticed some of the HK ones have started scanning too

I've not got a PDA and have never had one, so do you suggest I deliver all Recrdeds and Specials without getting a signature ?DGP1 wrote:Lounge Lizard wrote:So are you suggesting that you or I have more idea of what is or isn't genuine than someone working in an international section who ensorses some letters 'Signature Required' but not others ?krussel wrote:Most scan now on the PDA so they get a sig. I would have thought the old signature on paper method would be used as a contingency method if necessary.

Re: foreign recorded packets/letters
I had a normal recorded on Friday the PDA would'nt recognise the number so could'nt get a signature for it. In my office they won't give you a card if you have a PDA as a back up even though thats all the walkers use

So if that's common practice, there must be thousands of items delivered but never recorded as delivered, and not just the many foreign ones.Stormproof wrote:I had a normal recorded on Friday the PDA would'nt recognise the number so could'nt get a signature for it. There are 2 Irish ones, one normal that does scan and the other one that doesn't (I believe they're passports).Pegman wrote:We've been told the number has to be entered in manually, that way the PDA will accept it, and it makes the item traceable.

Re: foreign recorded packets/letters
What are you on about? Recordeds and Specials only get delivered after they've been signed for and I didn't say otherwise, foreign signed fors have barcodes on them because that's just how they're done, sometimes they don't have stickers to pull off and put onto a card but if they're legitimate then they'll have a barcode.Lounge Lizard wrote:I've not got a PDA and have never had one, so do you suggest I deliver all Recrdeds and Specials without getting a signature ?DGP1 wrote:Lounge Lizard wrote:So are you suggesting that you or I have more idea of what is or isn't genuine than someone working in an international section who ensorses some letters 'Signature Required' but not others ?krussel wrote:Most scan now on the PDA so they get a sig. Re: foreign recorded packets/letters
I suppose if the PDA rejected the number (via the key pad) you could write it down on a delivery card and hand that in but is there any point ? If the PDA rejects it then wont the gun in the cage/locker do the same as its the same system
