Re: how we measure performance
It's been a performance measure for a long time.
There's items per work hour, per work hour exc training and items per gross hour
It's not strictly "delivered" per work hour, as processing also have this performance measure, and all activity count in the number.
For example, if you spent an hour on IPS and sorted 1000 letters, then took 1000 letters to your frame and prepped them, lets say that took two hours.
You then spend the rest of the day (five hours in this example to make up an eight hour day) delivering this 1000 items.
This would mean a total of 125 items per work hour (1000 items/8hr shift) across the day.
Obviously you could break the day down into:
IPS at 1000items/hr
Prep at 500 items/hr
Delivery at 286 items/hr
Travel and meal relief at 0 items/hr
But the figure isn't broken down like that, it's just how many items of mail in a week divided by how many work hours.
The number of items being accurate would be handy of course!
Hope this helps.
