Managers Doing walks

Post by Puppetmaster »

Today ,normal busy friday.

Managers DESPERATE ,ususal people doing O/T only a handfull of desperates now as pay so poor +absorbstion well away from walk makes O/T not very attractive.
Dim said last week if not happy with terms dont do O/T

Well looks like people have been listeing to him.
This week Managers were forced to take out walks as they could not cover, know at least 1 lino had a Poblem outside.
Today DiM desperate had so many walks to cover but no volunteers,so guessing Managers had to go out again,oh forgot to mention ,staffing levels have been cut to bone as well

Cant understand,at 1 time we would be fighting over O/T,and that was before the massive decline in mail volumes.
Now mail volumes are so minmimal according to RM ,Flats not many at all, thats why I need a york to clear them in and only 2 sack fullfuls of packets.
Why are we not fighting for overtime like we use to,As according to everry one in the know we have so much time on our hands now and mail volumes so low O/T at any rate must be attractive.

Me I refuse O/T now as ,we are so busy in my own oppion and I guess many others ,as no takers for O./T ,flats massive increase ,packets + recorded massive increase, and specials, rare to make any time .lucky to finnish on time.

Somewhere something does not make sense?
Need someone to explain, how such a massive decline in mail volumes, walking postmen seem to be finnishing so late, and some walks have been unaltered since Pegus,so what is the Truth ?
I think I would like to come to our office and explaing the falling mail volume thing to us.every one I SPEAK TO SAY MAIL VOLUMES ARE GOING UP,so why do all Clever people not just in RM say volumes are going down.
We were told 3 years ago we would see a massive decline in flats, thats what RM wanted so more could be Mech.
What has happened is massive growth in Flats.
Confused ?

I wish i worked in your unit,i need all the o/t i can get.
I know i am working later now, but also accept that when i joined 28 years ago i finished a lot aerlier and could do 3 walks and still get a game of golf in.
Now it means i have to work close to my finish time and if i get o/t i have to work it.

You're managers actually go out and deliver  ours just go pale, start sweating and then come off with the 'just stream the mail' and in their eyes that means only 1st class (because that's all the USO says :hmmmm ).

No chance of our managers going out doing a delivery, most of them would keel over at the thought of walking anywhere. Our Callers office is at the other end of the building and thats too far for them to walk.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Well if you want to book ot ,then fair enough, but they cant force you too. Its not up to you to deal ith it , you dont get paid enough to deal with it ,make them deal with it, what else do they do, ? dont do there thinking for them..... :d'oh!

A union is only as strong as it's members. If you permit management to 'walk all over you' then they will. Stick to your guns; start on time; meal relief; out via official vehicle making sure all your bags are official ones etc etc and do the job properly!

An office where my Area Rep covers was telling me yesterday that they were moaning to him, "why are we still collapsing?" to which his reply was, "While you're coming in 90 minutes yes 90 minutes before your time and then seen swinging your legs on the frames then you will be asked to collapse and absorb. Regardless of the time they chose to start at their proper time any spare is Royal Mails time. End of.
