basic holiday 4.8 to 5.6

How is it that i only get 23.5 days holiday when doing a 5 week 6 day with a rest week on the 6th week.When we take holiday they take 6 days off us, so we only getting 3 full weeks holiday. Before April 2009 the min was 24 days?. From april 2009 the min is 28 days but we still only get 23.5? please help? Before 2009 4.8 weeks =24 days after 2009 5.6 weeks=28 days .

I'm not entirely sure about the answer. I asked a question about the 4 day week a while ago wondering if my leave would stretch further as i only used 4 days for a week off. apparently the answer is no, as you still only get 4 weeks 3.5 days. they adjust your leave down to 19.5 days apparently...so 4 x 4 days = 16 days plus the 3.5 days = 19.5 days instead of 23.5 on a 5 day week. I'm assuming that as you are on a six day week they are making some kind of adjustment for this. don't know what though. someone with more knowledge than me will have to help you on this one.

The problem is the gordon brown put basic holiday up from 4.8 weeks a year to 5.6 which means you should get 22.2 days holiday for 4 days working.How come our beloved union hasnt helped us or pushed this.???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Harry how does your shift work is it.....
Work 6 days bank one day and have the week off....
Or is it work 5 days,rolling rest day and have the week of but work 48 hrs over 5 days,this is a shift my guys were looking at before we went to the 4dayer.

Or have you a different system,it will depend on what way you work it to what days get taken off you when you go on your hols.

The problem you have harrybean is that in order to have a full week off you have to use 6 days of your leave entitlement otherwise you would not bank enough hours for your week off.

Before April 2009 the min was 24 days?. From april 2009 the min is 28 days This part is irrelevant as it is a legal minimum holiday entitlement but includes public holidays.

You should still recieve 23.5 days but to use them in full weeks means that you would only have 3 full weeks with 5.5 days left.
