Axeman you know nothing about me . I know my track record and I know the strikes I have been involved in so we have never rolled over in London and always fought for things.axeman wrote:As i read the posts of 'dingo' with his best intentions he's seems ready to roll over at the slightest thing if royal fail thump the table not quite the fighting spirit of a true union is it ?

Interested to know how the HTC 4hr walks were worked out,at my place and the other DO's i've worked at,get a 3-30hr walk, stick a HTC on it and it immediately becomes 4hr+fishtank wrote:Puppetmaster wrote:Since it looks like CWU have agreed to longer deliveries, can I ASK 1 Question the CWU should be in possesion of after agreeing to such.
Where Can I Find RM risk assessment on the effects of longer deliveries upon its workers.
Surley these must Exsist.
I am not just talking about using Trolleys to take the weight your back,or toilet places as soon we may have vans.
What are the risks on walking posties Back ,Neck ,knees ,and feet, and walking up to miles a week.
Sureley before recomending anything the CWU should be in possesion of all the facts and have them checked out.
Many guys in our office ,are saying they physicaly will not be able to do longer extedded walks,as walks already are long, and many suffer from health problems.
Well puppetmaster the Truth wrote,
"Now with regards to heath and safety reports all the information and adivice including tests show that it is worse to walk 3.5 hours with a bag on your shoulder than 4 hours without a bag on your shoulder. Thats why Royal Mail are introducing car derived vans , and HCTs as the only delivery methods in the future thereby removing the bag on the shoulder method."
So maybe it's time to see those H&S reports.
Of course these tests were done over a short space of time and for 4hr deliveries.
It would be interesting to see some for 4.15 and 4.30 as well.
And what about when you are pushing them with one hand as you have a bundle in the other.
And yes i've used one before,a high st,yes they are the bollox, but when i had to go residential,i had problems.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: UPDATE FROM HQ
dingo it's just that you keep reiterating that if we don't accept it ( in it's form whatever that is ) royal fail will just force it ....as far as im concerned thats what i pay my dues for and if it means standing up to them so be it not just accepting most of what they want .
high time this union got up and pushed royal fail arround a bit ....i don't like to think of it as subserviant union but it seems that ward & co ain't got the bottle to upset the apple cart

Sorry but there are 3 people on the pec from Scotland , two from the North West , one from the Noth East , one from the Midlands , one from South Central , one from wales , 3 from Anglia and 5 from London.tojobevred wrote:time for one div rep per each area on the pec wot do u think then we are all supported not just london
If a divisonal rep sits on the pec then that rep will be making decisons on behalf of the whole membership but wont ever be elected by the whole membership and therefore not be accountable to whole union. Is that really the route we want to go down ?

where is the south west voice then
the would be accountable for the division the represent therefore easy to de select if not up to the role because half of the div reps are better than wot is on the pec

What are they being briefed about if there is no deal, and why is Higson addressing them - unless there is a deal .dingo wrote:The divisional reps have been called to a meeting at the tuc tomorrow where they will be addressed by mark higson .phantomshare wrote:Dingo,
Are the Div reps still getting briefed tomorrow?
Why call them in if no deal will be put to them

2 Points,
Most of the guys I know with health issues use a trolley out of choice as its better, and all say the same at the end of their walk , we could not do much more.
Also If the CWU have not agreed CDV due to issues ,surely all other risk assements must be in question
Like you say lets dig out these risk asessments, and see how accurate they are!

Re: UPDATE FROM HQ
Must be harder, with the trustees pulling thier punches. not just on regulation which i stated earlyer, but also in regard to the investment strategy which enabeld the pension holiday. both of which are missing from the CWU presentation to parliament. As a div rep you don't have any responsability for that fine, i'm not blaming you. But i am blaming Lionel Sampson and Phil Browne!dingo wrote:the fact for every pound royal mail make 30 pence goes to plug the pension defecit. It is easy to have a slogan to solve those issues it's a dam sight harder to achieve it.
dingo wrote:for god sake you have not even seen the agreement and yet some are calling it a sell out ! Well where was your office in terms of striking when they were putting longer spans , to many part time staff , geo route revisions , to big a budget cuts and car derived vans or was that the thought of Cwu headquaters as well. I tell you where I was I was helping lead one of the biggest and longest strike this union has seen.
You've previously stated that some of the speculations pretty close, I don't personnely consider the speculation to represent a good deal.
I was organising a gate meeting with the office and the area rep to get a strike ballot, which was sent to HQ by our area rep but we never received our ballot.
Thats true the staff who come in early and work through their tea break are as much to blame as anyone. but HQ do have a lot to answer for and they should take the blame for their mistakes and they are certainly not above critisim.dingo wrote:This union has to many people who play the blame game . That everyone else is to blame except yourself. Well the stength of this union has always been that some offices are wiling to fight for a better deal ! Which camp are some of you in?

Is there any reason that the recommendations of the Hooper report have to be taken as a package?
Mandelson claims that the European Commission would be unlikely to let the UK government bail out our pension scheme as this would be seen as State Aid.
How can he arrive at this conclusion?
Mandelson must be aware that the EC gave the French permission to bail out La Poste's pension scheme. If they let the French do it, they have to let us do it.
Why is the union not arguing this point?
