Re: Late Saturdays
bloody joke later saturdays,we are meant to be moving forward with agreements but asking posties to work later saturdays in my opinion is a no no.
who wants to be off on a tuesday when there is nothing on but want you to work till 3,4or 5 on a saturday while all the bosses are sitting at the football or spending time with their kids joke.

It is a joke but not a very funny one and i'm afraid 1 in 3 saturdays off is not going to make it go away
because that still means working late on a saturday the other 2 out of 3.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Late Saturdays
I can't understand why Royal Mail want us to work at 3.30pm on Saturday.
I will be shocked if they can find say 1,000 postman who want to work at that time.

They dont and it is not nesscarily going to be as late as that in every single D.O
Later saturdays are a side effect of the way RML intend to operate sequenced mail. The CWU it appears will convince RML to give you some weak medicine in the form of extra saturdays off. It appears RML are going to operate sequenced mail on Friday night into saturday morning the same as through the week.

Re: Late Saturdays
I remember the CWU saying this at the time of The Way Forward. I can't recall the exact wording. but it was along the lines of "We will look at ways of decreasing the number of Saturday attendances."Big Daz wrote:They dont and it is not nesscarily going to be as late as that in every single D.O

After completing the MC closure plan ,Your serving MC is more likely to be 80 miles distant rather than 40
DSA volumes will increase and replace most mailsort. Just as in the previous change to weekday start times RM will continue to serve the demands of DSA leeches by giving them a longer hand-over window.(you didn't believe the rot about EEC transport directives ,did you? IF you did you better check out RM's application to Postconn requesting permission to alter delivery times}

Re: Late Saturdays
how will this new agreement affect staff who already have every Saturday off ?
do they keep same day off or will they be required to work to whatever new working plan comes in to force ?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Re: Late Saturdays
How can everybody have more Saturdays off? Surely if everybody has more Saturdays off, then hardly anybody is going to be working on Saturdays. Unless a lot more Saturday-only people are employed?

Re: Late Saturdays
I don't get Saturdays off so even 1 would be welcome. Some offices have a rotating day off and some have fixed, and my office has a mix of the two.Silence wrote:How can everybody have more Saturdays off? Re: Late Saturdays
If Royal Mail start introducing very late saturdays I can see us striking every saturday to get no more late saturdays.
This need sorting out before end of season (football) so we can work out if a season ticket is doable or not.
