More than hearsay, but we won't know exactly how accurate until some announcement is made or the document is released.monkey76 wrote:Is this factual this agreement or is it just hear say as ive heard nothing in my office about it.rathbonepostie wrote:Latest news: 60 page agreement to be sent to every CWU postal worker's home address (!). 3-year deal, pay rises of 1.2%, 2.5%, 3.?%. Re: National Atgreement
I shall reserve my final judgement until all the details are out but seems that many of the rumours are going to be correct. If so I shall be saving myself £150 a year after being a trade unionist all my working life am not prepared to be party to any negotiated deal like this. How can our union come out with such a deal after going into talks with a massive vote of support from the grass roots is beyond me. Any FAIR agreement should be about GIVE and TAKE by both sides, this yet again is all TAKE if what is being posted on the forum is true.
1. Pay Rise, 1st year is 1.2% equates to aprox £3.50 yet they will take off us £12.37 early shift allowance as they push our times back to accomodate these sequencing machines, now when i was at school that added up to loosing £8.87 that is a pay drop! Also bearing in mind we had no rise at all last year and how the cost of living has gone through the roof we will be masively worse off!
2. D2D, if the rumours are correct everyone will receive the muted £30 ( i already get £28.90 a week for taking/preping 3 a week).... If this is correct how can it be fair?, the union has been conned in the respect that everyone who doesn't have to take them is going to think long and hard and will probably vote for the deal as it will be a £30 a week pay rise for no extra work, mean while us clowns on delivery will be taking up to 9 D2D a week for little or no extra. We don't get London Weighting like our colleagues in London ( this is correct and fair IMHO due to extra cost of living in London), if we don't drive we don't get a driving allowance etc, because if we don't do the task it doesn't affect us!.... R.M don't give nothing away for free and there only motivation can be to increase the Yes vote, and our negotiators fell for it!
3. 40 minitues off our weekly time and 2 hours extra on a Saturday, So this will mean a full revision in every office as our rounds will need to be reduced to accomodate the difference in times. As to enable us to work 2 hours longer on saturday Mon to Fri day will have to be reduced by aprox 24 minitues each day. Or have they just agreed to reduce/ shuffle our hours and expect us to do the same amount of work again?
4. Later weekday start/ later Saturdays, Do they not realise we have a life other than work?, The implications of both on the work force are massive! We joined this industry because of the early finish on all days as this fitted in with our life style e.g sharing responsabillity of children with spouse/partener etc. Yes we all realise things were going to change but such drastic change will effect many families regarding lost time with Children and having to pay out massive amounts in extra child care in the week (this is worrying many in our office). Those of us who enjoy a hobby e.g going to football matches etc, when we can afford it will no longer be an option with a later Saturday.... It seems the regulater will allow no sat deliveries at all soon, so as an interim measure why could 1st and 2nd class only go on Saturday enabling an early Sat to be maintained, under the flexi agreement i'm sure we would agree to working a little extra on Mon to accomodate this as Mon is not a late day at present.
I am hoping i am wrong in posting on this thread and things are not as bad as they seem but if i am right god help us all, So lets have the deal in writing and see if there is anything in it for the work force and customers alike.

It won't be as poor as you are led to believe.
That is why we have been drip fed these rumours and half-truths from the start and why the position keeps changing.
That way when the agreement finally arrives it will look like HQ has pulled something from the fire at the last minute.
It is a textbook sales pitch and the deal will be slightly less poor than your worst fears.
Cue much cheering from the masses.

Re: National Atgreement
i am lead to believe the offer/deal from Royal Mail, negotiated by the UWU is the final offer, the next move by RM will be to implement the deal by Exec Action, personally i believe if this happened and the union decided to take us out on the streets,it would be very poorly supported, the union know this, the royal mail know this and if we were to be honest many on this forum know this.noggin1969 wrote:No matter what Billy/Dave , the PEC & RM have agreed to THIS IS NOT AN AGREEMENT until it is ratified by the membership , if it is as poor as we are led to believe then it is up to the membership to say NO. Ah yes the old sucker punch - or is it donkey punch, TBH I can't wait to see the rabbit and what they've managed to de-couple from the agreement this time, the pension business has suddenly gone quiet again. If it's 60 pages worth I can't promise to stay awake - my concentration span won't stretch that far these days. You know you get to page 36 and the eyelids start going and then next thing you know you're reaching for a pen!fishtank wrote:noggin1969 wrote:No matter what Billy/Dave , the PEC & RM have agreed to THIS IS NOT AN AGREEMENT until it is ratified by the membership , if it is as poor as we are led to believe then it is up to the membership to say NO. Nothing has been released yet to be unclear gobbledegook.
I do not belive the final set of proposals will be gobbledegook, but understandable proposals that you will either vote yes or no to.
If we do get gobbledegook then I would be tempted to vote no.
