I remember telling someone back at the Huddersfield office to make sure they claimed *pouching off* allowance. They hadn't a clue what I was on about.
Neither do and I have been a RM for 6 years...

Don't forget the training officers advice! "Right, tomorrow you're on your own. You won't be with me in the car so you'll have to find out which van to go on and where to have your pouches dropped off. Don't forget to get in very early so as you can finish within your duty time. See you pal!"

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Its an allowance that you get measured from the end of your round to the nearest Post office. It is only paid out if you have to back into town when you finish. Ie live in HD4 but round in HD3 you can claim.

Yeah, what TBT said. Can be anything upto an extra 15 quid a week depending on how far out your delivery is. I asked about pouching off allowance after transfering down to Colchester, not even the bosses knew what I was on about. After further investigating, it seems we're not entitled to it because we cycle back to the office.
