I would rather have the worse duty in the office then be what I am, a reserve.

Consider yourself lucky.

You know all the shortcuts, you know all the roads, you know where your going. You know when your day off is. I never get to know what duty I am on until I walk in the office, I never know what my day off is until the last moment. (Usually mon or tue though).
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Done my current one for 8 or 9 years and in that time it went from being easy to bloody hard to a happy medium.

Of the duties I have called "my own" I'd say none of them have been too bad, but I did hate vicing as a PTer and a FTer.

1. 2 Years

2. 5 Years

I signed for a vacant floater duty where you cover the days off of the same 5 deliveries, I had been on processing part time for about a year and a half but wanted full time hours so after seeing this duty go up on the board several times I thought sod there's my chance to go full time. It had 4 of the worst deliveries in the city all in the same horrible part of town, heavy as hell with lots of flats and stairs. It's 5th delivery tho was an easy senior guys walk on the edge of the shitty bit of town.

That was my foot in the door tho it got me full time hours and 5 years on I have my own walk, which is heavy as hell and a long ride out of the office but the area is really nice and it's my own delivery.

Been with royal fail now for nearly 9yr and always been a res  Although i did just miss out on a duty at the last re-sign due to the f/t, p/t duty ratio :mad Still can't understand why the need for p/t duties? why can't they just fill the res positions with p/timers :mad

As above, if you really are that unhappy it is not worth your sanity, life is about being happy, quality of life should be paramount to you, money should always be second to quality of life

I went back to delivery's about 8 years ago and have been lucky as i have been on the same walk,it has changed alot since i first picked it up but it's a great walk,it's very bulky and it takes 4hrs 15 minutes to do on a bad day but i have learnt to survive without the managers becoming to bigger pain in the a***e,they are just going to build in the gaps but they are doing that all over the country, the people who are out on my delivery are fantastic and they treat me as though i am one of them-part of the crowd.I have watched kids grow up and i have seen a few get married and of course i have lost a few due to age, cancer and heart trouble, but hay hoe you learn it's life, :hmmmm
