it won't make much more in savings if you ask me.

Factor in
extra vans to be paid for
Road tax,
Fuel,
Insurance,
Space,

add in:
Personality clashes in the van,
not enough room in Van for 2 deliveries and packets,
a big "steal me" sign over the van once thieves clocks the van parking at the same spot regularly all loaded up with mail,
what happens if you break down,
or the Driver is incapacitated and the partner is a non driver.

I can think of a few more, I think its very bad idea not thought through in real life, unlike on a computer.

Lol - just letting you know what i was told, i agree with the points you have rasied and there are many, many more. But yes i was told the first part of the delivery was for mail, as in delivery, the second part was tracked rego's packets etc, and this would be confirmed by pda, telemetary and patrol.

This is the single biggest problem and it will be huge. :nervous
Can two people work at the same speed either in prep or on the street?
Can two people get along 52 weeks of the year? :hmmmm

You are right to be nervous. My first job was as a drivers mate when I left school in 81.There was bullying by drivers that had been there years, they would have coffees and chat whilst the other was doing all the work, comments like you are not as fast as so and so that I usually have, personality clashes, awkward silences but to mention a few. I was lucky eventually I got paired up with a decent bloke and we were on same duty for 3 years and had some good laughs but it took 18 months of switching duties from some real tossers. We all have someone in our workplace that we say hello to every morning but don't have to work closely with for hours nor would want to.
I for one am not looking forward to going through that again.

In my relatively small office of 50, they would need 15-20 new vans, of which 1 would be off the road EVERY 9 days. They'll also need to employ literally hundreds more FULL TIME mechanics, to do the services and any breakdowns of which there will be loads.

Cant see it A. Happening, and B. Working.

Waste of time money and effort.

They really have no idea what they're supposed to be doing, would it not be better to just put a bike rack on the roof and then use the bikes to take the weight off you shoulder. Or what about this - just let the posties use their bikes and then get bags dropped out to them :hmmmm

:chuckle We got three like that in my DO ,one makes my morning coffee ,one gets my packet bags ,and modesty prevents me from spilling the beans on the third. Lets just say none of them are up to digesting a NATIONAL agreement so they are at a bit of a disadvantage and I let them know it :angel
