Reserves, just in the door who don't do D2D would be the major beneficiaries of this system.
That will go down well in the canteen. :chuckle :chuckle

Reserves just in the door not doing door to door, how odd! If you on a duty that has door to doors then you do them regardless of the amount of time you have been in the job. No exemptions for new/newish OPG's at my D.O never has been in the almost 19 years Ive been there. They get a IPS exemption whilst they are getting used to the frame of the delivery they are performing but cetainly not exempted frpm doing to door

Sorry Daz but the majority of D2D in our D.O is done by the dutyholder.
Not because they want to,just that it doesn't get done on their day/off.
This is because when a manager is faced with choosing between a reserve completing on time or prepping the D2D they take the easy option.
As we have refused any enforced resigns since 2007 there are very few proper floaters left and most of the time our duties are covered
by the next name on the list :arrrghhh .

But unless the walking speed on delivery(belgium is the closest to us at 3.6 mph) is drastically reduced and there is a transparent indoor work calculations which are not based on BSI 100 etc then its gonna be blue arsed fly with a bundle of mail syndrome.

So far theres been no explanation on how fair workloads are to be calculated.Id also like indoor workloads to reflect the H&S that needs to be done in every office cos at present where i work it only exists in the ssw work folder and is ignored by management and senior reps.

Longer deliveries might need a a return to office etc is this going to be possible cos they introduced the sdd to save money on this in the first place.

So your happy with a pay cut then?
Def not happy with a pay cut and id be the first one on the picket line and be willing to stay out for as long as it takes.People posting who apparently know better than me,are saying theres no chance of another national strike and im not living in the real world. Its hard to gauge what the hell is going on really,im just stirring
Fair comment mate. Just that if dingo and all these other so called "ITK" posters know the proper agreement details then why dont they spill the beans and let us judge it on here. They keep saying it keeps changing by the day what keeps changing?? better terms, more work? what??
Whats thier views on the current talks situation?? Are we better off?? if so how much?? and what will we be expected to do extra in return??

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

if this goes ahead....ALL delivery staff will be doing 20% no more no less D2D per day reserve or otherwise...

Won't they?
Yes, why would those who choose to do 100% of there door to door, carry on doing so under the new system, they would not be paid any more or less than if they revert back to 80%.

At my D.O we make our own arrangements for door to door, I let my floater do the whole lot yet behind me the duty holder does 100% and dosent leave 20% for the floater. Now my floater isnt going to doo 100% anymore is she? It will be back to 20% unless I give her cash in hand, which I wont be doing as i will revert back to 80% (all good things come to a end) likewise the dutyholder behind me isnt going to do 100% any more if he isnt going to get extra money so it will be back to 80% for him as well. Ditching the pence per item system means a end to the set ups I have decribed above.

Postie A formerly receiving the item price for 3 items @ 500 drops = about £24 + former early shift allowance at £14.65 will now receive £30 for unlimited D2Ds.

Postie B formerly receiving the item price for 1 item @ 500 drops = about £8 with no shift allowance will now receive £30 for however many D2Ds RM can manage to get for that area.

Surely that is not part of the agreement Postie A would be funding the pay rise for Postie B wouldn't he?

No it wouldnt , its pay restructuring to do away with the nonsense that is same job different pay due to grandfather rights on the early shift allowance.

My cover this week whilst im on leave is one of the bods that joined RML post pay and mod therefore he is doing the same work as what I would be doing but for less pay. Hardly fair is it?

Same job same pay, sounds good to me.As I've said before its net pay we need to be concerned about net pay not gross pay, given that pay restructuring appears to be on the agenda (as per pay and mod 2007?) that is more vital than ever!

It is a shame that although it will end the D2D "barons" as dingo calls them (although personally i've never met one) it will also mean an end to some of the more harmless "arrangements" that a lot of members have.

Why are the OPG's not sticking to 80% and standing there ground :hmmmm Ive done that in the past without any nonsense from my local management.

Is it case of managers, up you way making threats if you stand your ground and refuse to do any more than your 80%?

With a supplement, then its vital the CWU and RMl sort out the situation in your D.O, unfortunatley I would hazard a guess you dont have faith in them to do so?

Thanks for the explanation, your previous post makes sense now. :Applause

regarding the d2d issue and everyone getting the supplement can someone answer the following questions? (if they haven't already been asked)

1. why should someone who doesn't delivery d2d ie a parcel man get the supplement (am i right with this?)

2. why should a rural man with 200 drops get paid the same as the walking postie with 600 drops?

am sorry but if that's what the union/management are proposing it's just plain stupid, people are going to agree to that

Simple, the membership gave CWU powers that be a mandate to scrap the early shift allowance, but retain the payment of a indentical sum of money for all staff in post at the time of the agreement. A mandate was given to look at absorbing that payment with the fall back of keeping that payment if agreement could not be reached.

Rightly or wrongly CWU HQ are pursuing a policy of pay restructuring as well as a pay rise. The challenge is to prevent winners and loosers, this requires intelligent thought from RML so that everybody can complete their allocated workload(especially door to doors) day in day out.

As for point 1...the way i understand it, when 2 man and a van comes to the offices there will hardly be any parcel men or bag drivers. if any. I might be wrong on this. perhaps someone on park and loop can let us know.

on point 2....A way to look at it is if you both finish your delivery on time, with no running around or bullying from management, does it matter how many calls you have. Just playing devils advocate with this one! i currently have 600+ delivery slots by the way. potentially I could be worse off...but as big daz says...as soon as this comes in I'll be doing 80% of D2D instead of my current 100%. Plus if I can get on a 4 day week...some weeks i'll be doing 60%...so swings and round a bouts.

It's all about total/overall workload, if your working the same amount of hours and all your hours are filled with bona fida RML work then whats the problem? Look at it from the perspective of someone looking in from the outside. They see 2OPG's working all their paid work hours day day out, why should one get more money than the other? The only difference between the two is the amount of any given type of work they are doing when working every hour they are paid for.

CWU HQ have not sought a mandate to abolish night shift allowance, only early shift allowance.

However night shift allowance is a norm across a large chunk of british industry,I have no issues with night shift allowance.
