A BUCHAN community will be left without a post office after the resignation of its sub-postmistress.

Post Office Ltd has announced the closure of its branch at St Combs, near Fraserburgh, after Ann Pirie’s decision to retire.

Villagers will have to travel to either Fraserburgh, Inverallochy or Crimond for their nearest branch until a new sub-postmaster is found.

Kenny Lamont, field change adviser for Post Office Ltd said: “Regrettably, following the resignation of the sub-postmaster and the premises no longer being available for post office use, we have no other option but to temporarily close this branch. The provision of a post office service to our customers in the local community is of paramount importance.

“Post Office Ltd would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience the closure will cause and wish to assure them that every effort is being made to resume services in St Combs.”

The post office, in High Street, will close on April 8.
