Clearing the mail after a strike?

Post by madelin4 »

In our office 2day it was bad. When the staff say they r only working to there time, our Ass Dom got up and made announcement that if your only working to your time u must take all the mail and streamline it when out(rurals only) and if on a walk streamline it b4 u go out, as in mailsort 2nd class and downstream mail.. they say so long as all the first class go out.. tho on my walk which i wasnt on 2day there is a tray of mail and half of it is 1st class mail!!!! i mean, doing this is not having any impact on royal mail that much, they r still getting the full walks and rurals done mayb minus a 2nd class and Mailsort etc!! we must take a stronger stand here.. :mad

This seems to be happening all over, was exactly the same at my place, except we also didn't take out THURSDAYS mailsort that was left.
But DSA HAS to go it's 1st class!!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Noooooooooooooo But if your DUM told you to leave it then you're ok,HE should now be done for wilful delay!!

People should refuse to stream mail when they're out. Any streaming has to be done at the D.O. It's the DUM's responsibility to cut you off on IPS so you can get out to your first drop at the correct start time. Don't be bullied by a DUM trying to get all of the mail out

post piles up adn stupod new rules

Post by tinydancer »

[[On saturday our office had 8 walks that didn't go out, just my luck I am on one of them next week. There are 3 days of post piled up around the frame!!! I couldn't even do the D2Ds on saturday because the bench was covered in post. I asked my LM what was up with that? he said oh well, that's the way it goes when you go out on strike. I said he better be prepred to pay me OT on Monday, he laughed and said they would not pay a bean! The entire round consists of time-locked flats most of which I will not get to in time, so it looks like I will be cutting off on Monday as I did on Saturday. His response was, oh well you will get it out on Tuesday then. I asked if i could come off the sorting in order to attack the mess, he flatly refused. What would the Union say to this????? Help??!!!]]

I posted the above on a different thread, but wanted to add that our DOM told us RM will not authorise one penny of overtime last Saturday or any next week either!! So cutting off is the way we all went! in fact on saturday we had to ask permission to leave our frames for any reason, I had to put up my hand to ask to go to the loo or for a drink of water!!! Fuedal law rules over here!
Cheers, tinydancer x

Don't be bullied into going over tinydancer. Prep everything into your frame, then inform the dickhead LM your not going over. Take enough work to last til your time, take your full 40 mins break. Remember it's a clearoffice policy so if you can't deliver it, it's the DUM/LM's responsibility to sort it. In other words let the bastards take it out themselves.

is that true, our DOM always just fones up his DSM and gets permission to leave mailsort, anything up to second class etc

If they are being like that tiny dancer just work to your time and if other people ask or complain tell them their rights to work to time.

Theres not a lot of rights people have (not talkingon stack, etc i have heard of another office where this isn't allowed) but to go to the toilet from your frame??!! totally out of oorder where not kids, id def get in touch with area rep and hold a meeting outside work if people are pissed off, two can play that game :so there
