I know what your saying its not THAT bad compared to meneal jobs like factorys but u knwo what some factory work can be ok and easy going.

but i dont think it could possiblly get any worse (pushed wise) .. like i said i feel like im at maximum breaking point every day.

i jsut dont see what battles cwu have won in the past . who can inform me?

And i think the pay is fair enough because youd have a high turn over if the pay was crap and there would be loooads of theiving etc..

id say the pay reflects what we do for the amount of crap we have to put up with... without walking out the pay is the carrot

hasnt it been the same for 20 years?

what have they fought for and won ... apart form pay rise?

yes i could see in the dispatches program how a Rep can fight for chift changes etc alllll that stuff.

but if ur office doesnt have a rep then ur stuffed.

1st off,the fact we get paid to do them is a miracle in it's self!! CWU got that.

2nd off,tried,i think,but obviously failed .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

i mean for god sake what is our union paid to do?
Unless you joined over the weekend its not your union - you're not a member, you are not paying it anything :d'oh!

Anyway it has - it has always said that D2Ds although not part of the workload re traffic etc, they should be done during normal working hours (not breaks) its just that the message is not getting through to all reps and DOs and some managers are taking advantage.

ok sorry YOUR union ....... it would seem working life is rock bottom at RM ( ive only been working here 6 months) and im finding that my walk is unbearably long and tiring - rediculous really well overloaded etc etc coming in to huge piles of mail every morning wen its all mean tto be prepped etc etc etc jsut cant see what this union has ever actually done for likes of me yes im not a member - my walks a non member walk?
PS NO REP AT MY OFFICE.

Maybe they have just got more money? because from what i can see IT CANT GET ANY WORSE.

OR IT POSSIBLY CAN !!!!!!!!!!!! still waiting on the agreement ( the one we stopped striking for)
Why don't you join the CWU, and put YOURSELF forward for the Rep's position?
You're certainly passionate about the issues, and that's exactly what's needed. All you'd need is for 2 people to nominate you, and (assuming anyone else puts themselves forward too) win an election.

i'm suprised nobody has mentioned this sooner, it's so condecending it's almost an insult, looks like a notice you would see in a childrens nursery.
it does look like something a child would do - Fisher Price - " My First Computer " :hmmmm

RM would win prizes for being patronising & condecending

TrueBlueTerrier wrote:How lidl treats its employees: Sounds like a great place to work

http://www.spiegel.de/international/bus ... 85,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But observing them on the toilet? Listening in on their private phone calls? An explosive report published this week by a German newsmagazine has triggered an investigation into the retailer.

http://www.redpepper.org.uk/Every-Lidl-hurts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A culture of constant surveillance extends to every nook and cranny of Lidl’s retail environment, with workers being subjected to frequent checks for contraband. Pockets are searched, as well as workers’ cars. Even mandatory periods away from the shop floor take on a Big Brother aspect. One Finnish worker said: "Everything that is consumed at the workplace during the breaks, be it a yoghurt or a soft drink, must not only have a cash ticket taped to it; the ticket must also be signed by the supervisor."

http://www.blogbcn.com/2009/11/10/some- ... cott-lidl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

* A culture of terror in many Lidl stores, which forces employees to do what they're told or face loss of shifts
* Regular, unpaid overtime (resulting in sometimes absurdly unfair working hours)
* Intimidation and humiliation of women (including a special cap given to a menstruating woman)
* Pressure on workers to prevent them organising or joining trade unions
* A campaign of spying on employees during breaks
* Denial of sick pay by moving shifts when a worker is ill; invasive 'checks' at workers homes by management

Horror stories about ALDI too , firstly ALL supermarkets will obviously have a cut throat culture - it's how this manifests itself :hmmmm , Staff are on relatively good money but for that you've to stack shelves , get stuff out of the stockroom as well as bleep things through the till .

I can accept the bit about hands being hired and there will always be work to do .

A story ended up in the local rag , staff being forced to do shifts 35 -40 miles away - flexibility ? , the jist of it was that women of the world if you will , in their late 30's to 40's were
" managed " by spotty over promoted bits of kids who were full of the company's B/S that doesn't really work in the real world , naturally their people skills were poor / non existent .

ALDI offered to settle to keep it all down by offering these women £2000 or so each but the women took it to Tribunal .

I think there's been horror stories about Argus putting pressure on staff to not join a union and of course " the greatest company in the world Walmart / Asda " - :lfo has umpteen , just google ASDA / GMB Industrial Relations - very , very regimented management style .

Honest.

It still gives me nightmares.

Got the sack for attacking my supervisor with a carrot I had carefully whittled to a razor-sharp (but still unfortunatly soft) edge.

Slightly off topic, again.

We had 2 postmen yesterday, opened a bundle of their D2D's and discovered a brown folded envelope with "please hand to your manager" printed on it and the mail centres address. According to management, they're randomly placing test letters in our D2D's (we do have a problem in our office with people dumping them rather than delivering them).

In fact all the information has been posted on here before - will do a search to point you in right direction, but if you read this before I post the links just use the Search feature -( its in 3rd block from top of most pages on this board) and type D2D and check the results.
