I'll send you a form then as we will be getting a pay rise.

For some this will be enough of an improvement in their circumstances (not saying it will be for you though), which is why I think this agreement will get through.

Of course the other major influences on the Yes decision, and on which RM and to a lesser extent the CWU will count on are:

Apathy
Fear
Lack of Understanding consequences
Boredom
Frustration
Job security (short term)
Lack of willingness to sacrifice for another strike.

I personally will make a decision based on what the long term consequences are of the agreement, and that's what frightens me. I honestly don't think the CWU look beyond the immediate future or look any deeper into the strategic view, they look at each situation as presented and work from that. RM will always have a long term view and will always play the long game, just look at P&M07.

How lidl treats its employees: Sounds like a great place to work

http://www.spiegel.de/international/bus ... 85,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But observing them on the toilet? Listening in on their private phone calls? An explosive report published this week by a German newsmagazine has triggered an investigation into the retailer.

http://www.redpepper.org.uk/Every-Lidl-hurts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A culture of constant surveillance extends to every nook and cranny of Lidl’s retail environment, with workers being subjected to frequent checks for contraband. Pockets are searched, as well as workers’ cars. Even mandatory periods away from the shop floor take on a Big Brother aspect. One Finnish worker said: "Everything that is consumed at the workplace during the breaks, be it a yoghurt or a soft drink, must not only have a cash ticket taped to it; the ticket must also be signed by the supervisor."

http://www.blogbcn.com/2009/11/10/some- ... cott-lidl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

* A culture of terror in many Lidl stores, which forces employees to do what they're told or face loss of shifts
* Regular, unpaid overtime (resulting in sometimes absurdly unfair working hours)
* Intimidation and humiliation of women (including a special cap given to a menstruating woman)
* Pressure on workers to prevent them organising or joining trade unions
* A campaign of spying on employees during breaks
* Denial of sick pay by moving shifts when a worker is ill; invasive 'checks' at workers homes by management

Apparently a pay rise, removal of the D2D payment but a weekly payment to delivery staff (amount unknown) according to posts on here by various people.

MAYBE FAIL

D2D IS DONE IN DUTY TIME, NOT IN YOUR OWN TIME !!!! PLEASE LOOK AT RM OPERATIONAL GUIDANCE ON PREPARE FOR DELIVERIES. IT COMES UNDER SECTION 6. ALSO LOOK IN THE D2D AGREEMENT, ITS SAYS MORE THAN ONCE, ITS DONE IN DUTY TIME.

You know, you obviously hate the job, think it's s**t pay, the work's too hard, blah blah blah blah.

If it's really that bad, why don't you f**k off and do something else? Tell you what, I've never done a job that I haven't enjoyed. Or, let me rephrase that, I've never KEPT a job I haven't enjoyed. My time is worth a hell of a lot more than any job I can think of will pay me, so if I don't like the work I'll find something else.

I'm a little sick of the whinging, moaning bastards on here. Yes, there are problems. Sure there are plenty of things I would like to see changed. That's why I'm a member of the union. But all in all, it's not that bad a job. The pay is alright, the work is hard, but then try being a nurse or a teacher or even work behind the till at McDonalds, and you'll soon see we don't have the hardest job on the planet, especially if you are doing it right (working to your time, etc).

Seriously, if you hate the job that much, piss off and do something else.

Sick days are not paid; the employees rota is simply changed, making his sick days his days off, and he will have to catch up with the lost hours after he returns to work.

better not give RM management any ideas

Yeah, this job is alright. I like being outdoors (even in miserable weather) listening to the radio, not having to talk to anyone. My office is pretty good, no harrasment or bullying, good banter, decent managers.

I've certainly had jobs I've enjoyed less. Worked in a carrot sorting factory up near Kings Lynn for a week. That was a proper s**t job

I don't think I've been whinging or moaning. I do have complaints, but so far the benefits of this job outweigh them. The moment the balance goes the other way, I will find myself something else to do with my time. (But I'm never going back to f***ing Norfolk.)

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
