I Like the Health and Safety bit. Our office is a disgrace bags and boxes and yorks, strappings all over. phgs doing tracked packets in the gangway where you sign on. The place is a joke, but its alright for them to do it, even smoke billows in through the door from the smokers.razor wrote:Here is a copy of our Work time learning from last week, we never had the meeting we just got handed the sheets. As long as you only do 20%.Postal1 wrote:Thanks for info guys. I was under the impression that d2d's prepping was to be done in my own time as we are paid extra for these. So now i can claim ot if i go over my duty time prepping/delivering these?
If like some you try & do all in one day & then claim overtime you would find yourself on dodgy ground & refused.

Re: WTL says D2D's must be done in own time!
Don,t think so Postal, these have always been done during working time and there is even a RM document to prove it, when will some of you guys get what is going on in some offices, it seems the prep time is so tight that managers will tell you anything to get you out the door on time and keep o/t down.Postal1 wrote:D2D's have always had to be done in your own time, not as part of your duty time. This is because you get paid extra to deliver them. So prepping and extra time to deliver these are separate. I don't mind doing them as you can earn another £150pm on top.
I think we will see when the agreement comes out exactly how it is done because D2D will be part of your live mail and could be 5 a week, so will you come in early to prep these aswell?

Re: WTL says D2D's must be done in own time!
You cannot claim o/t for delivering them but you take 20% a day and if your dely is going to take you over your time then dom has to either pay you or cut off but dom cannot say that your 20% is taking you over cos as I said before the RM document on how to prep dely,s states that these are prepped as part of your duty process, ask dim dom for a copy off the RM intranetPostal1 wrote:Thanks for info guys. Unless you joined over the weekend its not your union - you're not a member, you are not paying it anythingel_cartero wrote:isnt it about time ...... this was sorted out ?

Anyway it has - it has always said that D2Ds although not part of the workload re traffic etc, they should be done during normal working hours (not breaks) its just that the message is not getting through to all reps and DOs and some managers are taking advantage.

If they tell you to do D2D in your own time, tell them you would be working for less than the minimum wage, which would be illegal.

Join the union or stop whinging. If everyone was like you, we'd all be on a 56 hour, six day week. Do you imagine you get £8 an hour because Royal Mail want you to have it? Why do you suppose you get paid leave and sick pay? That's because union members have fought for them. You're a freeloader!el_cartero wrote:TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Unless you joined over the weekend its not your union - you're not a member, you are not paying it anythingel_cartero wrote:isnt it about time ...... this was sorted out ?

56 hour week? id love that im stuck on 22,5 hours with no sign of a future of more hours. 8 pound an hour? its nothing mate they get paid more in lidls. and they dont have a union . it seems clear to me that royal mail has won every war against the cwu. dont try and make out the life would be HELL without them because i know for a fact im at absaloute maximum load just now and my walks 1.5 hours over what it should be.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:Join the union or stop whinging. Just carry on then. And when some inadequate manager who can't get noticed any other way decides to score a few brownie points by pcking on you, you'll have no one to turn to. Of course the CWU isn't perfect, it's a business union run by people who are as divorced from reality as Crozier or Tolhurst, but at local level I'd rather have them than not and I'd rather be a member than a freeloading non-union scab.el_cartero wrote:56 hour week? id love that im stuck on 22,5 hours with no sign of a future of more hours. Re: WTL says D2D's must be done in own time!
well lets face it theres sitting in lidls or aldi. beeping food through the till...
That said, the pay is good and progression is available if you earn it and as for it. I believe the current starting salary for a trainee store manager is as high as £27k and it is not unheard of for store assistants to progress to district manager within the company. There does not seem to be a great deal of transparency in terms of promotion and progression but the opportunity is there and the company does value those who work hard and do their job properly (although you may not feel valued after a year of 70 hour weeks). It also gives you great experience if you wish to make a long term career in this level of retail.
and then theres royal mail... hahah and we all know what we go through ... could u imagine what id come out with at the end of the week on 6 an hour with RM im currently coming out with 138 pound a week .. and i feel like ive just worked my fkin arse off big time .
and that involves workign from 8 am to 2- 3pm home for about 4 then i need a good nap sim up for aroudn 5 or 6 ... which hsi bassically like a full time workign day for me
6 an hour id be lucky coming otu with 110 a week - and trust me i WOOD NOT BE HERE - i dont even know if ill be here much long on my 138 a week.
ITS SHITE MATE
