Don't worry about being the only one on strike. Just make sure that your Branch knows what's going on, so if you do loose your job. They can take RM to Court, to get you reinstated. Because you'd be such an obvious target for reprisals, for "rocking the boat". There are laws to protect you in that situation.

I was the only one in my office on the picket line last time we striked (struck?). It can be a bit uncomfortable, but it's something I felt strongly about. I have since had assurances from a few guys in my office that if we walk again, they will join me. It'll be good to have a few more voices for the rousing chorus of L'Internationale... :)

Think about it

How many people in your office probably want to strike but are in fear because they think theyd be the only one?

All it takes is one postie to make a stand and others WILL follow!
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Dont ever call a postie a scab, my little tip!!! One bloke in our office called a fellow worker a scab as he came in during strikes to work, a manager heard this and suspended him and moved him to another office!!!!

Just strike there a bunch of idiots now at RM.

garry6677 wrote:Hi, advice please iv been with royalmail for 5 weeks and just getting the hang of the job at least im getting fit lol,

the problem is if there are anymore strikes i dont know what to do, i dont want to come in and dont feel its right to go against the union they are there for us, the office where i work is small only about 60 posties and at the last strike they all came in to work even the union rep came in which i find disgusting.
so what do i do be the only 1 that strikes then when my 12 month contract ends be told to get lost, or become a scab and have a better chance of my contract being extended.
also if im the only one on strike they could even give me the sack for striking bloody hell what a mess.
what unit do you work in as I'm sure there would be many a postie who would love to send the rep there a belated valantines message :Very Happy

Am sorry to report that in my office the Union Rep did not strike. Even though he voted to do so. And that is true

I have long been of the opinion that if someone chooses to cross a picket line then the Union has not made its case well enough.
By then sending them to Coventry or whatever then shows the Union to be pretty small-minded. They won't be won over to the Union's case by that sort of behaviour.
And everyone's circumstances are different. Some people, no matter how much they agree with the Union position, feel that financially they cannot go on strike.
Striking is always a highly emotive issue. It seems pointless to let it become a divisive one.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Our office was about 80:20, stayed out:worked. In another office about 15 miles away from my own 100% went into work including the rep.
