Campaigners are to deliver leaflets to 7,500 Oswestry homes urging people to oppose supermarket plans.
The mass mail drop was revealed today by campaign group Oswestry 21 which said the town’s chamber of trade had joined its coalition against the store plans.
The thousands of leaflets will be delivered to homes in the Oswestry area by Royal Mail on behalf of the group starting February 22.
The leaflets will give information about the four rival supermarket bids for Oswestry.
Part of the leaflet is an objection letter against the store plans.
Householders will be urged to tear off the objection letter, sign it, and send it to Shropshire Council planning chiefs.
An anti-supermarket poster campaign will also be launched next week and a public meeting is also being organised.
Oswestry 21 members say the town does not need a new store and it would harm existing town centre traders.
Their argument has been supported by Oswestry Chamber of Trade which has joined a coalition of groups running a Keep Our Town Special campaign.
Chairman Yossi Gliksman said that overwhelming support from traders to join Oswestry 21, Oswestry Civic Society and Campaign to Protect Rural England in campaigning against any other supermarkets being built in Oswestry had prompted the move.
