The guy next to me starts at the same time as me, his walk is the same as mine (give or take 5 minutes) and he's the same age as me. We both collapse Mon and Tues (sometimes Wed as well) yet he finishes 2-3 hours later than me nearly every day, and I don't run.

He's not 'doing the job properly', he's just totally f*cking useless and must eat slug pellets for breakfast.

There's a big difference between 'doing the job properly' and being a useless turd.

One question Onaflyer. Why does it bother you so much?
It's not as if his finishing time has anything to do with you and yet you feel you have the right to call him "f*cking useless" and a "useless turd".
Are you telling us that you take 3.5hrs and he takes 5.5-6.5hrs. :chuckle
Surely if all this was true even a stupid manager would notice a 2-3hr discrepancy.
Are you jealous? Is it because he earns more money than you for doing the same amount of work.
That just means he is more intelligent than you.You should never envy intelligence.
Maybe if you ask this "useless turd "nicely he could pass on a few tips. :chuckle :chuckle
The thing is, he doesn't get paid more than me. He doesn't claim because he knows he's slow on delivery and prep. He gets out around 10.15 whilst i'm out just after 9. It takes me 2.15-2.45 and him 3.30-4hrs.

He pays another postie to do part of his walk on heavy days, instead of just cutting off.

So no, I don't really envy him walking around whilst i'm sat at home getting paid the same. I know things will change, with shared van duties already being looked at for my office, but if it does and I end up with a huge delivery, so what - i'll work at a decent pace and if there's anything left when I reach my finish time i'll take it back.

Tman you only have Onaflyers opinion on whether this postman is a slow useless turd.
I was generalising rather than focussing on Onaflyer's mate, but that aside, he could still be "a etc etc"

Onaflyers opinion is that the best way to complete a task is quickly.
Sounds like you're generalising too, unless you can somehow glean that info from his previous post in this thread.. :confused

without going through all the reply's my stand on this is TOSH we are paid to work our hours, if however 1 chooses to reguard there health 'n' safety above all else then what can an employer do, I'll tell you what NOTHING I suggest citizen you ask your rep for the agreements reguarding prep times on our beloved RM2000 and Sorting agreements and weight agreements within the delivery pouches and not forgetting the time taken within our duties to prep 20% a day for our D2D's, cycle checks and our cycling to and from our delivers which incorperates any toliet breaks at the designated place while out on delivery which was agreed during the SDD reform :arrrghhh

Youve went from saying he takes 2-3 hours longer than you to saying he takes basically an hour longer.

Fast worker, comes in early, does not observe health and safety rules, no interest in doing the job correctly, makes lots of mistakes.

Versus

Slow worker, comes in on time, follows all ROYAL MAIL's health and safety rules, does the job correctly, makes very few mistakes.

So in answer to your question, the fast worker get the same amount of work but the fast worker runs round to make time therefore if he is seen to have spare time on his duty because of this then yes he should get more work.

We are not on a performance bonus. We are paid to work a certain amount of hours in a day. If you finish early then you deserve and can expect extra work.
You took the words out of my Mouth. that is what exactly happens...

I haven't told the managers anything, Pegasus took 0 hours out of our office when it was run last year. Van sharing and walk sequencing is being planned at the moment though so i'm sure they'll extend the walks, but so what. I'm not bothered if I get a walk that takes 12 hours, 'cos i'll be taking it back at my finish time.
