The guy next to me starts at the same time as me, his walk is the same as mine (give or take 5 minutes) and he's the same age as me. We both collapse Mon and Tues (sometimes Wed as well) yet he finishes 2-3 hours later than me nearly every day, and I don't run.

He's not 'doing the job properly', he's just totally f*cking useless and must eat slug pellets for breakfast.

There's a big difference between 'doing the job properly' and being a useless turd.
your been very harsh how do you know if he is dda this could be a reason for all you know

Just a few questions for you :-

1. Do you "flick/flip check" your mail while you are walking ?
2. Do you ever "doorstep" items ?
3. Do you talk shortcuts over peoples gardens ?
4. Do you ever run ?
5. Do you leave packets with neighbours ?
6. Do you start before official start time ?
7. Do you use your car ?

Just interested !
1.Yes
2.No

Fast workers die young! I'm hoping to achieve immortality. You won't catch me rushing about like a lunatic. As for these crawlers who go whinging to the so-called managers about 'slow' people, are you on some kind of productivity bonus the rest of us don't know about? Nuggets!

One question Onaflyer. Why does it bother you so much?
It's not as if his finishing time has anything to do with you and yet you feel you have the right to call him "f*cking useless" and a "useless turd".
Are you telling us that you take 3.5hrs and he takes 5.5-6.5hrs. :chuckle
Surely if all this was true even a stupid manager would notice a 2-3hr discrepancy.
Are you jealous? Is it because he earns more money than you for doing the same amount of work.
That just means he is more intelligent than you.You should never envy intelligence.
Maybe if you ask this "useless turd "nicely he could pass on a few tips. :chuckle :chuckle

i've been a posty for 30years,in my mid 50's and there is no way i can go as fast as a 20 year old runner,i can never understand why people want to run round every day,
over the years i've seen plenty speedy road runner types but you know what they dont last, they either slow down like everybody else or they go of sick with stress worrying about finishing early every day.
if god wanted posty's to fly round our walks he would have given us wings.

I remember a bloke in my office suffering a heart attack in 1980. They made a walk for him which was planned so as he never had to walk up a hill and which didn't put him under any pressure. Imagine that these days? Our DIM "can't understand" why a 29 year old can get around faster than a 55 year old. He also "can't understand" who it takes longer to get around in icy conditions. Typical of the idiots we've got 'managing' Royal Mail these days.

What strange inverse (not to say perverse) logic to equate "slow useless turds" = "doing the job properly"

I wonder if those same apologists for the terminally useless RM employees would feel quite so charitable towards, say, a surgeon performing an operation on them?
No-one could be that stupid, could they? Then again........... :hmmmm

Tman you only have Onaflyers opinion on whether this postman is a slow useless turd.
Onaflyers opinion is that the best way to complete a task is quickly.
Not always a prefered trait for a say,a surgeon performing an operation.

I've been in the job for just over 10 years, i've done most walks in my office and can get them done well within the time.

I don't run, i don't come in early, i don't use my car, i don't take short cuts and i do take my break.

The problem is there are too many bone idle people in royal mail who want to drag their feet so someone else will do their walk for them when they start saying they wont get it done in time.

Well too many bone idle people in our office have conned the gaffers into believing they have 3.5 hr walks - when in all truth there 3 hr walks. Ok, i do think age, fitness, etc does play a part into when the duty can be finished, some people just take the piss though,it's plain to see- people deliberatley tying up slow, taking several fag breaks etc. Gaffers seem to turn a blind eye to all this though, it seems the norm in our office :no no
