Can you explain that lovejoy:

When you say one way or the other, do you mean it will be recommended or rejected - I mean we need to be getting a move on, after the deal is finally revealed to the membership it will have to go to a ballot, so that's another month or so and then of course the implementation timetable - who is going to do what and when. So mid March or so - say 1st April - that would seem to be a good day.

cynical is your middle name fishtank, RM was wanting election material included in the workload but CWU said no way if im wrong mayb some1 in the know can correct me. dingo i believe RSI is covered by the DDA and keep up the good work you should be typing with all yer digits now unlike me and my 2 finger tap dance.

I like the sound of the word final, lets hope the PEC do not come up with a new definition of final

Dear Colleague,

Update on Royal Mail Negotiations

Talks with Royal Mail were adjourned on Tuesday 9th February to allow both parties time to reflect on the position reached. The union is currently awaiting what Royal Mail have described as their final offer on some elements of the package under negotiation.

The next meeting under the independent process will take place on Friday 12th February and further information will follow in due course.

Pensions

The union continues to pursue a pensions resolution through all available channels.

The General Secretary and Deputy General Secretary (Postal) are today meeting the Chair of the Pension Trustee Board to outline the union’s position as set out in our recently published document. We will impress upon the Trustee Board the urgent need to find a solution and fully consult the union over the future of our members’ pensions.

The union has also told Royal Mail that there can be no sustainable modernisation agreement without a pensions solution. Moreover, given that it is public knowledge that the pension deficit will increase, we are pressing the company to urgently reveal when the increased deficit will be formally announced and how they intend to fund it. The union will be meeting the company as a matter of urgency to discuss the overall situation on pensions.

Talks extended another week then.

Pursuing the pensions issue with Royal Mail? How come it is suddenly a Royal Mail issue again, I thought the union had decided only the Government could resolve the pension deficit. Does the agreement now include the pension issue because last time it had been decoupled from any pay and modernisation agreement.

It seems strange that the two issues suddenly appear together again.
