Re: What IF ?
When you are talking of health problems, then also consider the risk during the Summer of Skin Cancers. It is certainly becoming much more high profile, and to expect delivery spans of 5 hours in 70 + degrees will be like walking in the desert without a watering hole. As someone who has experience of this illness, I will not be able to cope with any extension of delivery hours, and is this any different to exposing the workforce to asbestos.

When you join the union, you are instructing them to negotiate your terms and conditions with the employer
on a collective basis, you should be able to request an updated copy of your contract though.

Re: What IF ?
Have you ever turned down all pay rises & allowances & bonuses negotiated by the union? If not, then the acceptance of those T&Cs changes would also mean acceptance of all T&Cs changes - collective bargaining cuts both ways.milesy wrote:but im not in the union never have been!
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

They just don't get it
milesy you have forfeited your right to have a say, you will simply get told what to do.
You may as well keep your opinions to yourself because you are never going to lift a finger to act on them . Kind of makes your opinions worthless . Keep your fingers crossed that the membership fight to get a good deal for you
Bye

Re: What IF ?
Chances are, he'll blame you & accuse you of being bullying for saying he has forfeited his right to say anything and that his opinions are worthless.....but we all know it's not you personally ( or you & me & the wider union membership ) that will take this stance, it's RM.....it's like ( as I said on another thread ) refusing to put vote in any elections, then whinging when your council tax & petrol tax goes up.....your vote alone may have made no difference, but 10,000 people with the same attitude could have made a difference if they bothered to join in!

Then join!!!!
Any improvements over the years have come about through the CWU and its preceeding union UCW/UPW
If everyone like you decided not to be members and there was no union you would be on the legal minium for wages and holiday entitlement.
You contracted terms and conditions are what they are through the CWU, not because RML wanted to give you them!!!

One states that RM work on a basis of collective representation and all changes to contracts will be agreed with them irrespective of individuals being members or not.
Another states that all changes to contracts will be notified in the "London Gazette" - I guess this is so that they can get us both ways - through agreement and EA.
