Well, what a complete tiz you're all in over this one. Regardless of this nonsense about north v south, it did expose some serious problems (undeniable) and a postal service that is still in the dark ages (also undeniable) and reading this thread will only reinforce viewers opinions of all of us. Too many mouths running away with themselves here. Think I'll go watch some paint dry.

Maybe you should leave your Old St office, and do something constructive and worthwhile ( in the words of Bill Hicks talking about ad men )....oh I don't know, put a gun in your mouth, suck on a tail pipe...anything's good.....just sowing some seeds here....Night Tonic wrote:Well, what a complete tiz you're all in over this one. in edit: yes I can see the irony, of criticising someone's lack of constructive comments, by being equally unconstructive myself.....but as NT is rarely constructive, maybe it is the only language he understands ( MODs or POSTMAN give me a temp ban if you feel it's justified, I will remain unrepentant about my comments ).
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

My best mate is in the business of visual media. He makes programmes, promotional stuff for corporate business etc and has done so for all his adult life (some 30 years plus). He watched the programme and told me you could make a similar programme to that at any large organisation and 'achieve' similar results. He reckons Royal Mail is a very easy target and the people who made the programme should be embarrassed. He also reckons some of the managers who were speaking so freely to the 'inquisitive' agency worker (who remember had only been working there for 2 minutes) were in on it. He says you can tell by their body language and speech patterns i.e they were behaving in a way that one would normally associate with someone being interviewed by a superior or in a situation outside their comfort zone. He's probably wrong but...waitaminute wrote:Divide and rule, Programme prompting the audience to adopt the idea of privatisation. The bit at the end about postman and women maybe doing better at school was the worst insult. Biased and non sensical and a disgrace to any reporter worth any credence. Maybe those who concocted this farcical mish mash of purposely hand picked and poorly edited crap should have done better at the school of ineptitude. Actually had they done well at the school at the school of ineptitude they would have qualified with flying colours. Silly me.

That manager is parroting off the " they're all lazy line , they're all loony militant trots etc " line as he thinks it'll impress a more senior manager . The sleeping incident and the stick may be too much of coincidence too ?
"Coincidentally" there's been a DIM DUM that has come on here , that just happened to work in London DO's reinforcing that line
Anyway I hope the makers of this " documentary " get a good " degree " at the end of their Polyversity Media Studies Course

The one thing that really annoyed me was the postie who went apeshit at a customer for ringing the bell at his desk. I know tempers were/are running high but we provide a service for the public and his reaction was shameful to say the least.
One postie behaving like this can tar 100,000 workers with the same brush

Re: Dispatches Ch4:Your views
so what are you saying this is some kind of covert way of making RM look bad before the big
"SHAKE UP" and full scale retaliation towards us.. we are about to get royally shat on? well well well talk about timing .
I dont understand how that guy was in the office sooooo many times without any interruption etc time after time after time.
And all these things seemed to happen just at the point when he was around.... hmmmmm what a career he had on 2 shifts.
and the wheel falling off .. i bet that was "pulled off" .
who stole the money form the card - i bet the spy done it. why wasnt this noticed on the frame?
all deliberate terroristic acts - desperate for anti postmen responces nationwide.
Have rm pulled off a fake 911? and guess who they want to go to war with - postmen
the countrys perspective towards postman has been changed now thanks to this stunt.
anyhow will we allow this company to discredit us? tnt etc will be loving this!
I cant wait till th next big CH4 scandel ... infact lets send sumone in for revenge equiped with camera and determination to make ch4 look bad to "damage" them. lets make our spys postmen just to spicen it up a bit .
CH4 you have been warned and so have the spys that infultrated us.
This country doesnt like spys and will not tolerate damaging attacks to our workforce and ecomony at any level.
can we get the names of the spys? they should be watched very carefully perhaps by our own rm police.
since our security is obviously a shambles.. perhaps we can now start tightening that up a bit.
perhaps all media companys should be spied apon before an attack can happen including ITV.
be on the look out for covert operations at your office. hidden cameras etc.
CH4 vs RM company vs company .. blow for blow
ITV vs CH4 go crozier! haha (unless he was behind the whole hoax in the first place)
Mr crozier obviously has alot of friends in the media and government to pull off a 411.
Croziers thinking .o O ( lets make the whole country think we are a joke and then my radical new agreement will be gladly accepted by the public in the knowledge there will be improvements. the postmen will have no choice after being ridiculed by the media for being lazy greedy and incomputant theives. ) Then i will leave and my legacy will be complete and there will be no oen to blame but myself and i wont be there anymore . and no way back.
Mandelson has a quick word with mi6 installs cameras on two covert spys and sends them in to complete the mission.
the new agreement likely to be tight and controlling with RM gaining more POWER over the union due to this rather strange documentry.
We have an insurgency called the CWU and hopefully they will fight until the end to save jobs and secure our future . You can try to take us down but together we stand arm in arm ready for anything.
watch this space.

However, a Royal Mail spokesman told Channel 4 News that the show was imbalanced and focused on a few bad apples.
"The Dispatches programme totally distorts the reality that the vast majority of Royal Mail's people are hard-working, honest and conscientious
People! Calm down, its a tv show and if you don't like it................turn it off

By the tone of the program, I'm sure if they had finished on time it would have made a sure point of this.
They said that while the temps took the stuff back they stayed out sometimes till 6.00pm finshing the work.
WHat is shocking is how an office can be run like that. 29 hours S/A frames loaded with mail and nothing but temp worker filing through the door. Must be well over budget........... unless......................

"We didn't lay down when management came rushing in,some of your areas did,wtf is that all about."
"We went out as a whole division, some of you couldn't even get a whole branch out,one office here one office there, wtf is that all about."
Your post was going so well POSTMAN.![]()
I understand your anger but there were many reasons for this, some political, some geographical but very seldom the fault of the general membership.
Postman is right fishtank !! All Branch officials including area reps were told to go and get either whole Branchs to ballot or units/offices within Branch`s to ballot for strike action. Divisons were also asked to ballot all their offices. Well apart from London no other divison balloted. Apart from Bristol , Plymouth and Essex amal no other Branch as a whole balloted. Other brave offices balloted including on the East coast of Scotland and in particular Edinburgh distribution, but not every office who had change imposed decided to strike including a number of posters on here who complain about everything but when their office was attacked they didt lead the charge to ballot. Equally posters like Linkin did walk the walk and whilst we dont always agree he has my respect for his will to fight.
Now with regards to the dispatches programme there does seem a desire to have another go at the London membership.
Lets get things right the two agency people one worked in Tooting for 50 days to get all that information , the other worked in Brixton for 46 days and in Nine Elms for 3 days. I bet if they went in most offices for that length of time they will uncover things to expose and sensationlise.
However lets also recognise that London had just been through 20 days strike action with flashpoints and backlogs in all offices. At this time most of the IPS for Tooting was being done in Nine Elms and Mount Pleasant by casauls as the office couldt cope. The loss of the 4 day week meant that indivuduals loss both overtime from rest day working and time off . The 4 day week gives every one an extra 52 days per year off. However the price for the 4 day week is that you have to basically increase your rest days by 50% , therefore you reduce your duties to fund the extra rest day covers.
If someone came into your office and said that from now on your back on a 6 day weeks but you now have to do the same walk in 6 hours what you used to do in 8 hours. Would you rush around and try and do it or would you do the job properly and force Royal Mail to re -introduce your 5 day week and 8 hour duty ??
London still has casuals in offices because the revisons have not worked. For example in Wimbledon where they took 32 walks out and put them back to 5 day week from 4, have 25 casuals on nights , and one casual per cdv van so the two ops can only complete one walk per CDV the casual does the other walk and every HCT walks has a casual who takes out a half of walk. Even then work is rolled and casuals are out delivering till 2100 at night.
By all means blame Royal Mail but dont blame the London membership.

The point is dingo the longer you preach this "we were strong and you were weak" mantra the more there will be a backlash against the London membership.
By the way this was us in june last year.
I am in the picture but i am not telling you which.

Now i'm no expert on the freedom of information act,but couldn't all the posties featured in this farce of a show demand any film of themselves under the data protection act. Then they could post all the filmed footage of them as a youtube video, showing the whole picture rather than just a HEAVILY EDITED anti-postie shock show making us look as bad as possible?what do you reckon,is it a goer??
same as it ever was...
