Well said!!Going back to my childhood in the fifties, the foreigners amongst us took no exception to being called after the land of their birth etc, even if we got the exact location of their birthplace wrong. no offence was meant or taken when you said you were going to------the greeks or eyeties or poles or whatever. In fact they rather enjoyed their almost 'special' recongnition!gj1023 wrote:Well this has been a lively post. I think the bottom line is along the lines of what someone posted early. That is the right skills for the job you are doing , in Royal Mail one of the most important skills, is the ability to read English as the job invovles a lot of reading. It is totaly irrelevant what colour or nationallity you are.
On the PC bit, blantant racism is obvious to all and not acceptable to any normal minded person as we have moved on from the views of the fifties and sixties etc. The problem to me is percieved racism , the way people are been indoctrinated with this PC rubbish . It seems to make them so sensitive , as if they are looking for racism , where there is none, There has been a few examples in this thread and I think this sad as "freedom of speach" is the bedrock of our society.
