Union rep helping management.

In my office the union rep is helping management re plot walks for introduction of shared van duties. As far as im aware we are still in dispute at national level so why is the union rep helping them completly change the way we do our job with no agreement?

Maybe we work at the same office. We have also got 4hours 15mins delivery span and everyone on here seems to have 3hours 30mins i think we have been had over.

The rep technically is not doing anything wrong is he? Its implementing unagreed change that RML cant do?

However unless the rep has inside info on any new work standards, he may well be wasting his time and may find he to start al over again.

Also when the planning is finished he should be putting it to a vote.

Why is the rep helping? Im wondering if he is simply wanting to make sure the work is evenly distributed from duty to duty and make sure the DOM does not cock it up?

The interim agreement says and I quote "Royal Mail have committed that no further change will be imposed during the course of these negotiations"

Thanks Big Daz do you think I should approach the rep to ask him about the interim agreement and why are changes going ahead. Also is it right that we have a 4H 15M delivery span?

Nothing should be implemented without the membership in your D.O getting a vote.

Revision outcome propoals allways go to a vote in my D.O.


If you rep agrees to implement without a ballot then he is not fit for purpose and you should make a complaint!!

this was tried on in my office and the rep stood firm, and decleared to everyone on the floor that he fecked if was going to make the d.o.m's bonus and change's for them.........................is that not what they invested in goe-route for??????

It is always a difficult decision for a rep.
If you are not involved you get left with a managers idea of fair workload and the members complain.
If you are involved you are accused of being too close to management and if it goes pear shaped it's all your fault.
I personally woudn't get involved unless i had some inside info on the negotiations.
If the negotiations break down this may be implemented by EA and the rep will look like an a*se.

I was at a meeting yesterday and it was made quite clear the delivery span is still 3 1/2 hours, and as far as i know area reps are telling d.o reps to get involved in the planning of 2 men in a van as normal nothing is made clear, all in all its total f**k up

50/50 ehh fishtank.....................would agree with the above quote of you, as per normal, lot's of confusion on the ground while the top rank's come to some sort of deal, and to be honest we need a deal now as nobody know's what the hell is going on (cwu/rm). As for EA i rekon we would be balloted and have a missive yes vote for a walk out if EA was enforced by r.m :cfo

we were told 4h delivery span at the max and that has been been talked down by even the dom by all account's as (even as we work now) call rate packet issuse's and all the rest using either a hct or 2 in a van with a trolley each (im told,lol) the walk's could be reduced even more, and yes im told the dom had a look of horror on there face as they came out with this crap, one quote fom them was "this is going to be a nightmere to get in"

just on another note, if you ever get the chance to speak with creative group of people who call them self's "planner's" ask how much they are going to save in this phase of modinisation.........................we were told in a wtl session that there would be none at all,not in either money or percentage wise on overall budget, none we asked.................that's right none, next question please.........................ok, then what's the point of this of this phase........................because we have too, but why...................ok let's move on shall we, your all late on the ips............lol...........................krazy time's ahead one think's

You may 'have' 4hr.15mins walks but who 'says' you have to do them? In our office you either let your lino know you'll be claiming or you have the discussion before leaving the unit that you are unwilling to go over your time. You then decide, together with your lino how much you can reasonably take. Tis YOUR CHOICE whether you do the 4.15 or whatever. 3hr:30mins still stands - end of. If management say different enter a B&H against them.

here's an unpopular view, when we did 2 deliveries how long were they in total ?
Here's possibly a less unpopular view, if you're diong 2 in a van the possibility must exist that there could be days when for instance you are willing stop on and i want to go home. so you end up booking more o/t (30 mins at least) cause you've got to return me to the office.
