Later Start Times

Just been told by another Rep that Wolverhampton Mail Centre has decided to accept later start times, and this will begin during the middle of August.

Can anyone confirm this? Are any other offices changing their start times.

I only ask because I thought that until we have sorted out the current IA, we would not be moving on anything.

Why are we sacrificing a days pay to take IA when local agreements are being made. Is it any surprise Laurel & Hardy continue to refuse talks when we are doing their work for them. FFS.

Thats what i was lead to believe,a big meeting at our office this week about this very thing,but having said that i think i have read on here or postman chat that early starts have already started in some offices quiet a while back.Reading thru some of the "early start threads"RM want to bring it in by exec action 13th August and my guess is they will let us keep having one day strikes until 13th Aug,implement the exec action knowing that it will trigger a counter reaction...ie an unoffical walkout.

W***ers. Thes changes in Mail Centres are causing problems in D.O's. Next time the CWU talk about supporting a Mail Centre a lot of delivery people are going to say feck um'

Maybe single days of industrial action are not the way to go with this one. In my experience starting and finishing at the right times (working to rule) is more effective. CWU reps like myself, may find it easier to enlist the cooperation of those members who will not strike at the moment. Covering parts of Rural rounds really mess management plans up.
Nobody wants to lose a days pay so this may have been an easier pill to swallow.
Rest assured though, poor as I am I will be there to the bitter end!!!!

It's always the rural people that stick to there guns and are militant.
I find getting townies and part-timers a nightmare to get to meetings or picket lines in mine.
The amount of time i have spent (wasted) talking to em trying to get them there is unbelievable

LOL. In my office its the rural peasants that are the worst. The SPDO's have just have not bothered supporting any form of action. Yet its their local Post Offices that are being closed, their local Post Buses that are being scrapped and they are frightened to death of being moved into our main office. Unless they stand up and start being counted they will end up another bunch who nobody will give a toss about. Not one of our town walks went out, but most of the rural bunch just came in and got on with it.

Some of them think that just because they are out of the way, we dont know what a bunch of scabbing ba***rds they are.

I actually think that its not the fault of the posties, i think we should be looking at the union. What is the point of striking (fri13july) when there was no press, tv, or news coverage of the strike. They should have enough money in the bank too make some sort of press release or TV ad. We have only one national paper who is saying good things for us, THE MIRROR, thanks!!!
Makes you think, are the union actually bothered about us really. Because without our support the union is DEAD!
We the union, yes WE THE UNION should tell the Labour party, that their not getting another penny from us. Tell other unions too do the same. Because at the end of the day, the unions made the Labour party. We put them into government.
AND WE CAN FECKING TAKE THEM OUT AGAIN TOO.
I justed read through this and i cant make head nor tail of it. Oh well had my rant for the day

had this email from my branch sec regarding later starts and possible legal action

Dear Colleagues,

Could you please check with any of our members in delivery who still
have letters confirming their employment that refer to their place of
employment and their normal hours of attendance. So in other words any
letter containing the words "your normal place of employment will be
ANYTOWN DO and your normal hours of attendance will be 0500 to 1300
etc". Alternatively it would be appreciated if you can obtain adverts
that have been placed in the press/job centres or internally which
advertise delivery jobs and also refer to the hours of attendance.

It would also be helpful if any local agreements that contain reference
to the start times of duties or any P318s could be forwarded to the
Outdoor Dept as a matter of urgency. For offices where P318s or duty
sheets are not in existence a copy of the office workplan that refers to
the times that IPS commences and finishes and prep commences would also
be of assistance.

Your cooperation in this matter is much appreciated.
