Imo, one of the best pieces of kit ever issued was the sleeveless fleece that went with the Harrington. I still wear mine now after, what, getting on for ten years? No sign of wear either. Ok, so I've not worn it every single day for the last however many years, but it has outlasted plenty of much newer uniform.

Probably not. Examples being RM supplied pens and Red rubber bands.
No because despite the cuffs on my shirt looking like a cows tail, I've been told I have to wait until june to order more, 5 shirts per year, anyone would think the managers have to pay for them out of their own pockets

FIVE?

I was told two! I rang up to order a couple and she said you've already had four. I'm entering my third year I said, so I'll be due another two, see your manager she said.

The cat shoes are rubbish, wore mine every day for the last 6 months, no tread left, Royal Mail trousers are not worth the material they are made of! Dogs teeth go through no problem. Medium t shirts leave staff on a wet t s**t competition

The hood on the new light weight waterproof coat is a waste of f*****g space. It's only attached to the coat by about 4 inches of material at the back fo your neck, as soon as you start walking it just floats off your head in the breeze. If you tie it up tightly around your face with the cord it will stay on obviously, but who wants to walk around like that?? Not me :mad

Also it could be construed as a H&S issues to wear your hood while crossing roads - the hood could reduce peripheral vision and the rustle of the hood so close your ear will diminish your ability to hear approaching cars ( that's why the Marines only wore their green berets in the Falklands, to maximise their senses.....that and the fact that they looked fackin' nails on the telly! :chuckle )

Don't forget the amazing trousers that keep your warm, change colour after a couple of washes and wear out at the crotch after a month :D. They last 2 years tho according the the expert on the other end of the phone :D I pointed out "yeh I'm sure they do if you sit at a desk all day answering a telephone" that went down well :P

Zip broke on my fleece last October after 3-years of wear & tear.

Fair enough i though, ordered a new one which arrived within two days.

That lasted three days before the zip broke on that one too.

Rang up myself to re-order but fobbed me off,got my manager to do it.

Still waiting.... :cuppa

To everyone on here complaining about uniform, have a shufti round your office, and see what old uniform you can find dumped around the place....I started too late to get a brand new Harrington, but I've got about 5 of them tucked up at home ( and each one won't get thrown out till it's falling apart )....right now I know there is at least 2 of the old fleeces ( blue inside and out, with cloth over the shoulders like a donkey jacket & with a breast pocket ) at my office knocking around, but I don't bother wearing the fleece much.

A few of the older guys in my DO will be taking VR soon, ive got my eye on their harringtons. :Very Happy

The fleeces arent fit for any purpose. Too hot to wear in the summer, wind goes straight through it in the winter, useless in the rain. Absolute rubbish.

One of our long termers took EVR the other week and gave all his thermal coats away. Still got mine but its a bit of a squeeze to get in it nowadays
