How does that work with 25HR contracts? Later STARTS?No one will have to deliver till 4 or 5 but you will have some later finishes.
Family Friendly.... pffft!
The Union had better secure better contracts or it'll be a no from me.

I too am intrigued as to how we are going to work less Saturdays - we currently, and I don't include myself, work 5 in 6 with a long weekend on the sixth week - we have 1 Saturday only guy - the odd duty is lapsed on Saturday (Firms) but the duty covers another duty on Saturday. Has HQ negotiated a system whereby less Saturdays are worked and if so how is it going to work OR is it, as I suspect, down to LOCAL NEGOTIATION again and what provision has been made for an intransigent management who are opposed to change?fishtank wrote:dingo wrote

I'm intrigued as to how this will work.
At the moment we cannot cope with 20% staff off on a saturday and that's with saturday only workers already in place.
How they plan to manage with over 30% off will be a wonder to behold.
Very well thought out repsonse. But I have not sold you out !! I am awaiting the deal as much as you are. But there again all you do is moan. Glad to debate any issues with you but you dont seem able to !!upmyroad wrote:You have sold us out. CWU is not worth fuckall.dingo wrote:Alright Door 2 Door lets get a few things straight.
Not everyone does Door 2 door now in an office, some offices have appealing quality on door to door, whilst others have good quality. Some offices have door to door barons who do the whole offices door to door and they are on a fortune some on over 96000 per year.
If Door to Door is in workload it will assist in your overall prep rate meaning more work to be included. Plus it will help to increase call rates and over the ground time . In other words your traffic in your office will increase as door to door will be now considered as part of your offices overall traffic. Plus you will still recive a payment which will be paid to 52 weeks per year to all OPGs in a delivery unit. You will also recieve a share of any growth in the product.
The only losers will be those door to door barons. Unaviodable thou !!
Now answer me this question mailsort 2 /3 is virtually non existant on a Saturday due to downstream access. So have a look at your delivered traffic on a Saturday and it will be in excess of both Mondays and Tuesday traffic. So what time are you on till on a Saturday and do you finish in that time ? If you do dont you think that Royal Mail are asking if you can deliver more traffic on a Saturday than you do on a Monday and Tuesday why are they paying you longer hours on those days ?
No one will have to deliver till 4 or 5 but you will have some later finishes. It will depend on what time your second batch of work arrives in your delivery office from the walk sequencing machines. Plus you will have less Saturdays at work.
Same here Dingo, thanks to you and one or two others, we at least are getting some kind of information, which does help, so please go on posting.dingo wrote:For most offices the spec wont change it will still be 2 oclock. Do you know less than 8% of staff are still delivering letters at 2 now according to all the panellists on which the quality statistics are worked on.
Some offices will be later as a result of walk sequencing and in some offices it could be a finishing time as late as 3 but as is the normal that will include return to office and a meal relief at the end.
There are a number of ways where less saturdays can be introduced. Fishtank if your office is tight on Saturdays now then maybe more hours on a Saturday will be the answer.
one person in our office, out of over 100 on delivery takes his break prior to going out.........so 99% will be finished by two, yes, as they are due to finish at 1.20pmdingo wrote:For most offices the spec wont change it will still be 2 oclock. .
A man after my own heart. But just because your finish time will be later on paper will that stop you rushing around in order to finish early ?? Bearing in mind the only difference will be that some walks will recieve their work later on Saturday but the latest would be 10claretandblue wrote:the reason we can deliver more on a sat than a tue is because we run round like mad men too get finished at a decent time so we have some weekend left to enjoy, i.e going on football match. With how busy it is on a sat now you dont gain much over a week day.

Plus you will also be able to introduce an attendance pattern which gives you maybe one in three Saturdays off instead of one in six so you may work 50% less saturdays then you do now.
Wrong again reserves will be entitled to the same benefits. In fact they are now. If you are not being treated fairly now its nothing to do with CWU HQ or any agreement it is either down to your DOM or the local rep. You need to appoach them. Reserves in most London offices enjoy the same time off beneits as anyone else otherwise it is not fair.DGP1 wrote:dingo wrote:A man after my own heart. and the reserves get screwed again because we don't get Saturdays off for 'operational' reasons ie. face don't fit
