MARLOW'S temporary post office, labelled a “third world shack” by tourists last year, will be ditched, it has been confirmed.
Its move to a new site on the corner of the High Street and Institute Road has been rubber stamped following a public consultation.
Marlow information centre will also be moving to the premises.
Wycombe District Council estimates the move will save £29,000 per year for a one off set up cost of £25,000.
The only disapproving comments the Post Office received about the plan were that a ramp must be provided for disabled users.
An amended proposal has been created to address this.
A portable ramp may also be bought while a handrail and bell will be installed.
A Post Office statement read:“Customers will benefit from the branch being located in the heart of the local shopping area.
“The same range of services will continue to be available and customers can still collect benefits in cash using our everyday banking services or Post Office card account.”
It said the new service will be “set within a bright modern, spacious environment”.
The current Dean Street amenity will close on Monday February 22 at 5.30pm.
The new branch will open at 9am on Thursday February 25.
