Some walkers have to walk to the start of their walk, which could be miles away, after delivering to 10 - 15 houses, some hang around for lifts. Some vans have driven miles in the oppostite direction to their own duty.
The whole walk gets their post within 15 mins of each other, most never having had post so early before.
Customers find red vans blocking their drives, or can't get parked in their own street, for a 15 min period every morning.
The above is done during summer time (feb to nov) due to there being a 'lull' in work, ie less letters sent than at other times of the year. Some offices do year round, to make up for the drop in letters year on year. Allegedly.
The idea is to usilise all working hours, ie prevent postman from going home an hour early and getting paid for it. Unfortunately, walks aren't equal, so some still finish early, whilst others didn't have time to lapse in the first place.
Spot on.........It's like Wacky Races in our DO! :Very Happy
Customers never have any idea when their mail will arrive or by whom it will be delivered. Redirections are missed, mail is often mis-posted, packets will probably arrive later than normal.
I have to prep a walk that is sometime "absorbed". On it I do ALL the re-directions, turn for packets, only to have those that do the walk thow small packets into the drivers section on the frame, to be left for the poor sod who has to take it out another day, They stay there until a "Manager" bothers to force someone to take them. Oh and I have to prep them in the frame again.

If the re-directions etc aren't done, then blame the lazy postie who is prepping the job!

That way the truly stupid think they are still scoring. :d'oh!
Agreed on that point.

As for the rest, well it depends if you're bothered about working hard and being at home rather than strolling around until 3pm every day I suppose.

The majority of flyers are not home early because they work hard.
They are home early because they come in early, skip their meal relief and leave the office early.
It's neither big nor clever
Some of them are the poorest excuses for postmen/women i have ever seen. :left:

LAPSING/when one has not put duties in place that mail on any given day shall fail to meet its full working hours or when idiots have rushed around, came in early etc and let RM tell them they do not have enough work then staff the
office with bodies short every week for everyone to share the extra for ZILCHYPOO.

ABSORBTION/same as lapsing except you get to keep the extra work every day as a wee treat for a being a super
best boy /girl. :d'oh! :d'oh! :d'oh! :d'oh! :d'oh!

I work in an office where duties have been lapsed, gut strangely enough these duties arent lapsed on a saturday, although for norm dtds should have been done of these duties but they are left for the cover on a saturday. I am then told that in our office there are no duty holders although they take back shift off their duties and straight back on to the duties they held before the went on to back shift

If it is door to doors they are Mon to Friday as such you should not have any if you do you can refuse this as even the firms that put the contracts in do not want them delivered on Saturdays!.

I have no problem in "strolling" around to my finish time if that keeps me in a FULL TIME job :Applause
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
