How bad is it?

Post by Bacardi »

Heard some disturbing rumours regarding low volumes going through RDC's in particular N.W. NHC & SW (lost a big contract?) & Woking ( minimum staff no overtime?) Management propaganda or are things really this bad. Any information appreciated.

What do you mean? It would be nice to know what the rumours are. This is like dangling a carrot... lol
Minimum staff? No overtime?
I work there.. they cut nightstaff a while ago and we have to take up the slack, as it were, in the morning when we have to do some sorting about an hour after we start. No one there was happy with that either, least of all the nightstaff who went or even the remaining ones as these will eventually get cut too as and when they get this new system put in, if ever? Royal Mail modernising....!? If thats so then why have we had more sorting frames put in the office then?
Overtime ban? Not heard that either, in fact they had a list up for people to come in and work their days off for the next two weeks.

Seems to me to be typical of a lot of offices I bet. Cut the staff to "improve services" and no doubt to pay the money to that greedy git who is jumping ship maybe? Sorry I meant leaving. No, right the first time!
We have had a light week this week, and relatively light last week too and it does seem odd to say the least as we went from being inundated with mail, left overs from xmas pressure and also the delayed mail... to what would seem like nothing. Normally my round has about a minimum of 5-6 bags of mail. This week I had about 4 max each day. Loaded up with packets galore today though. Not a lot of mailsort either as they like to push that out on us at the weekends now, as well as on Mon/Tues.
So what this propaganda stuff is or what these "disturbing rumours" are, I for one would like to know, as I've not heard anything, apart from what has been "guesstimated" at on this forum.

We were informed at our afternoon WTL session last week that mail volumes at Glasgow M/C have decreased by 15% .. again i dunno what spin management have put on this, and how real those figures are. Plus, the only guaranteed overtime is our scheduled attendances, anything else is a lottery

we have been told in our work time learning that our office had lost a big poster to our competitors.
When questioned who the firm that had been lost was our manager said he didn't know.. ;liar
