If you read my comments properly, you would see I was just answering mrlovepantsuk's query, I have not mentioned that anybody should not have two jobs.disheartened wrote:So you think these guys/girls should'nt be allowed to put fires out,cut people out of wrecked cars ect....ectevilc wrote:Some fireman are retained fireman, they attend fires when alarm is raised whilst holding down other jobs.mrlovepantsuk wrote:sorry, why are they strike breakers in your office?

If thats the case please accept my apologies.......but it did appear to my untrained eye that you were having a go at retained firefighters.......Steveevilc wrote:If you read my comments properly, you would see I was just answering mrlovepantsuk's query, I have not mentioned that anybody should not have two jobs.disheartened wrote:So you think these guys/girls should'nt be allowed to put fires out,cut people out of wrecked cars ect....ectevilc wrote:Some fireman are retained fireman, they attend fires when alarm is raised whilst holding down other jobs.mrlovepantsuk wrote:sorry, why are they strike breakers in your office?

I'm presumeing he's saying that they scab in his office and just happen to be a Firemen as well.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I'll explain this properly : Several strike breakers in my office are retained firefighters and they were the abusive one to those on the picket line but whenever the firefighter were on strike they were on picket line and expecting support from us. That is what annoys me so much

some members of other unions have been very good down in bristol. They have set up a postal support group, which is leafleting and collecting money for us, and sent a delegation down to a weak office without a rep that played a big part in halfing the number of strike breakers and getting them to elect a rep! They've been down our picket line too.
support and cash from
TNT drivers
NUT
PCS
FBU
Rolls Royce test areas
UNISON
and more.
Worth reminding them that posties NEVER cross a picket line (in my experience).
This kind of support really makes it feel like we have a trade union MOVEMENT.
