Too many managers

Post by goggins69 »

In the last year our office has got rid of seven members of staff plus a casual. We only have eleven counter staff left. Do we really still need two managers who seem to do less and less except have meetings with each other behind closed doors when the queue is out of the door. This is a clear case of top heavy management.

Although our RM brothers and sisters seemed to have hijacked this topic :dance the best thing a counter bod can do in this situation is HAVE YOUR SAY.

I know a lot of people will respond to me putting that by saying "nothing ever happens" etc etc, but believe me, they are HUMAN and like me and you they have the same weaknesses. No one likes a telling off, and no one likes to be seen as a lazy bast ard. :cuppa

Slag them off with your own point like "Do we really still need two managers who seem to do less and less except have meetings with each other behind closed doors when the queue is out of the door?" on the have your say form. The regional managers will read it as will the CAM. And I can promise you the one thing both of those are looking for is to reduce their manager cost base.

By the way, and this goes for every office out there, I think at least 6 forms need to be returned for the results to come back. Do what I do EVERY year and take half a dozen... :whistle
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

As a business we are so top heavy now it's a wonder we haven't just toppled over. Or have we and no one has actually noticed?!? One day it will be just the managers left and no one to actually get on with doing any damn work.
Oh and can the RM guys please stop hijacking the POL threads on here. There is more to RM Group than the RM part of the business you know and you do have your own section on this chat site. Thanks :dance

When I moved to my current office in the mid-90's there was a PEC and POA in charge. Now we have less staff and less work there is a BM and ABM in charge. Nice enough people and I wouldn't wish them harm, but one of them mucks about 80% of the time with sales statistics, conference calls, speadsheets, wallcharts, etc. So engrossed with these that he seemed to miss the fact that losing 3 staff in various ways plus 2 on long term sick may leave the office short-handed!

But a bigger waste are the 3-letter-acronyms, see topic 'Another BAD DAY' dated October 09 for an in depth discussion.

Only 80% of the time? I don't think they are doing their job properly...
