ive never known such lengthy negotiations, how many hours have they been talking?
Its simply unbelievable.

Oh come on, how do you expect them to come up with an agreement in just ""3 MONTHS AND 1 f***ing WEEK""" !!!!!

You've got to look on the bright side, we did manage to call off industrial action and have a strike free xmas - makes you wonder though...............if we hadn't done that, the backlog potential mountainous, nothing like stress to focus the mind on finding a solution. There is a little bit of prevarication here though, the PEC had actually been due a meeting on Tuesday, then Wednesday and Thursday was supposed to be Roger Poole coming down from TUC HQ with two jointly signed tablets of stone from the melting pot of three months of negotiating - so should we be getting the fatted calf ready or are we going to be bowing down before the golden idol?????? Old JC was wandering in the wilderness for just 40 days and nights and in that time he had cast aside temptation and set his house in order - still that WAS before the digital age and the internet. Soo in 100 days we should see something truly righteous or not.

The problem with all these contining talks is that at local level they are pleasing themselves and just implementing things willy nilly. The time the talks finish rm will just walk away with everything implemented. CWU leaders wake up. Or stand down at top level.

Would you rather the negotiators just accepted RMs position then?

We are looking at an agreement that will change our industry forever. If it takes a while to get right then it will be worth it and if the members don't think it is good enough then we will get our vote!

I try to inject a little levity into the situation lovejoy but truly the position of the union is untenable from the statements that have been put about over the last three months in particular, but in fact for almost a year. The agreement was all but signed in early December after that Interim Agreement debacle, then it was the 22nd December, then the 29th, then a fortnight off for Christmas, then the bad weather, then an extension for another week now an LTB and further talks next week. In the meantime we see RM opening up again on EA, Park and Loop and so on. For Gods sake lets stop the posturing and actually DO something other than prevaricate. How on Gods earth can we have gone from the stated position of a meeting of minds three months ago, to "just accepting RMs position" and the "agreement that will change our industry forever" which hasn't changed its complexion from the outset suddenly three months and 1 week later be a stumbling block?

I don't know but lets wing this in from left field - industrial action = Royal Mail very contrite and willing to do business, call off industrial action = Royal Mail dragging its feet offering nothing for the demands under Phase 4 - is that a million miles from the truth, no pun intended.

Apologies Braveheart - no offence intended. It was just a reaction to the assumption that the negotiators couldn't be bothered to meet.

I know people think some of our HQ are not good enough (and in some cases they may have a point) but does anyone seriously think the CWU negotiators would have a break for a piss up?

PEC Met today and received an update from negotiators.

Talks are continuining and will be resuming on Monday.

An update on this and more will be put out tomorrow to all branches via LTB

S0 me old mucker why the delay? dont mean to be an old arse but there must be more to whats going on than meets the eye
Its been so long since we all heard some relative news i think we are all going quakers but thanks for the update cheers
