The following method is used in our office, and our last re-sign was last September:
For argument, lets say there are 25 walks, and 5 p/t staff in the unit. The re-sign starts off in seniority order with the f/t staff. Once 15 walks have been signed for, the final 5 walks are then chosen by the p/t staff in seniority order. The remaining full timers then choose either a floater or reserve duty. I agree that it is rough on full timers who've perhaps got 5 or 10 (even more in some cases) years in, but it is certainly fairer than some of the systems mentioned in this thread.

Told this morning an indoor review needs to be agreed by friday, but most people are thinking of telling RM to shove it until the new national agreement is reached. This comes after management couldnt make the new hours fit the workload even after they hijacked the review from the then rep who couldnt make it fit. They have now offered to make 12 PT up to FT but take out the remaining night duites.
Anyway, RM explicitly stated in the terms of the interim agreement that no more changes would take place until said agreement is finalised, so why are they trying to force the issue by this friday?
I smell local strike if they force this through via EA.
Why are HQ sitting on their feckin hands while rome burns AGAIN.
In 6 months time the accusations will start that certain areas were weak and accepted change before a national agreement was in place.
There is no cohesion left in this union and i believe certain areas are being left to rot as a punishment because of faction infighting.
If there is no intervention from HQ we will be forced to return to local action.

Re: Seniority no longer counts
Trouble is this seems to have come from HQ, the divsional rep told the area rep who was against it that it was to be done and swiftly, and any office taking any form of industrial action would have no support from the union.
I'm told it has something to do with phase 4, i'm guessing during the talks RM have said some areas have not completed what was agreed in 2007 and would not finalize this new agreement until things where sorted.
To say i'm pissed off would be putting it mildly

Here's what The Way Forward REALLY says about it
This is an extract from "resourcing jobs as a result of major change introduction". Which is part of the Way Forward Agreement. Unfortunately, I can't provide a download, because the file is too big. But I'll ask one of the Moderators, if they can put it in the downloads section.
PROVISIONS
1. All new or significant altered duties will be advertised in the re-sign. These duties will be signed for on the basis of seniority, with due regard to exceptional/special circumstances.
2. Individuals whose duties are unchanged, may opt to retain them, but will also have the option of applying for any of the jobs involved in the re-sign. (See paragraph 2.3).
3. Defined specialist duties should not be included in re-signs because they are resourced as per Section 15 of the Way of Working Agreement.
4. On completion of the re-sign, part-timers will be able to apply for full time jobs that are left vacant by full time employees, contracted to 41.5 or 40 hours. Exceptionally, part-timers who have been in their current role for less than 12 months will also be able to apply. Full time employees must not be left without a job as a result of a resign.
5. Employees should not be included in a re-sign unless they have completed 12 months on the previous duty they selected. The only exceptions to this where:
.Their duty has significantly altered as defined in "Change Criteria". New duties, above the previous template, have been advertised.
.The individual was placed into their current duty on appointment or due to consequential vacancy, following a previous re-sign.
.Less than 12 months have elepsed since the last Office/Unit re-sign.
.For specialist jobs, for which the applicant has been trained.
.As a result of serious personal or domestic reasons.
6. Where there is surplus following the completion of the re-sign, the provisions of the "Managing the Surplus Framework Agreement" must be observed.
7. Where there are likley to be high numbers of vacancies/consequential vacancies, remaining at the conslusion of a re-sign, the planning process should be actioned to achieve the required resource in the same timescale as the re-sign wherever possible.
Surreymonkey, they seem to be counting on none of you still having a copy of the actual agreement. I suggest that you have a word with your Rep, and insist that he/she gets hold of it ASAP. Your DOM is trying to trick you!
If only I could be surprised by their deception.
