Re- joining after taking EVR

Hi, I have been told that the time limit on re-joining R.M. after taking EVR is now six month's, whereas it used to be eighteen.
Can anyone clarify this.?

To answer the original question> Re-employment after redundancy is covered off in Appendix 10 of the MTSF agreement.

Without reproducing the whole section, the relevant paragraphs are:

3.2 Guiding Principles
3.2.1 No one who has left Royal Mail Group (Consignia prior to 4 November 2002 and The Post Office
prior to 26 March 2001) on the grounds of redundancy or TMA will be re-employed or engaged by
Royal Mail Group on any type of employment or other contract, until at least a period of two years
after termination of employment has elapsed or ever in the case of former employees in receipt of a
pension. There will be rare exceptions to this e.g. BPCS engage consultant associates to carry out
work for a third party.

3.4.4 Policy
An individual who has left Royal Mail Group, Consignia plc or The Post Office on Voluntary
Redundancy Terms (or equivalent) or TMA and who is in receipt of a pension from the Royal Mail
Pension Plan will not be re-employed or re-engaged under any circumstances.

3.5.3 An individual who has left Royal Mail Group plc, Consignia plc or The Post Office on Voluntary
Redundancy Terms (or equivalent) or TMA but who is not in receipt of a pension from the Royal
Mail Pension Plan will not be re-employed or re-engaged before a period of two years has elapsed
following the termination of employment.

In summary - if you've gone on VR with your pension - you can't come back, if not - then only after two years.

Simples!!

good luck with the evr dont blame you for trying to shaft r/m (a job is a job) and come back...they have sacked /bullied and sh*t on all staff for ages ...would be nice to see someone do them over...but with the above info it dont look like happening...all the best for the future and please find a better employer than rm

What you have to weigh up is whether the EVR money you get is worth it given that

a) You probably had a permanent round before, and will be returning to be a Floater, Relief Man, or whatever other cr*p position they put you in.

b) You will have lost all 'Grandfather' rights you had, ie driving allowance, early shift allowance etc

c) Complete loss of all seniority you had for repicks, holidays etc

d) Loss of permanent contract

Well no, I wouldn't even bother. RM should be ashamed of themselves for offering people these contracts.
