Hey, glenno...if your mrs really is thinking of BSI 100 you should do more than "enter" talks...there's something else you need to be entering pretty sharpish...you're going to be very busy.

I was 15, from a middle class, suburban London, Conservative family when she got the push - and I wasn't very politically aware either ( I never understood the significance of the Poll Tax until after I was 18 ) - I might have lived through those years, but it doesn't mean I associate anything more than the years of my schooldays.

Anyway, you haven't anwsered my questions, because what little I understand of socialism and political policy, Labour has done much less for the working class than it has done for the ruling class, and done the square root of bugger all for the working class in RM.

Even Thatcher didn't have the brass neck to suggest privatising RM, let alone suggesting it a few years after promising to keep us public!

Perhaps Roger Poole could pop round and give a summary of the session. You could also go on a tour of loads of Hotels.

That's an interesting point of view given the events of the last 13 years. Inequality at record highs ,child poverty booming despite mountains of noble rhetoric; not one anti union law repealed ,£800 billion of taxpayers money into fatcats pockets overnight and not a soap bubble in place to prevent it happening again. Even the tories would have struggled to pull that lot off. Face facts new labour is now the tory party

We should strike before the general erection with just one demand - that the UK government takes over the pension liability like the French government were allowed to. This is what we should have gone out for in the first place and all parts of RM should have been balloted.

Dingo mentions the biggest pay rise in history and a reduction of the working week.

It's easy to increase someone's hourly rate if you cut down the number of hours they work. Say I was earning £400 a week for working 40 hours, I would be on a hourly rate of £10. If I was only paid for 35 hours, I would be on a hourly rate of £11.43. My rate has gone up by 14.3% but I'm still taking home what I was before.

If any area reps have the nerve to try this on, I hope they make sure they are not standing near any windows and are wearing their running shoes.

It has nothing to do with the hourly rate the union is looking at real money and increase in year 1 of the deal the biggest ever.
