That is the unfortunate reality of life at my D.O
if your start time is 0600 then you should have 2 trays with several coded bundles wed onwards not touched, after IPS included then approx 2 hours to prep it all, bag it all ready for drivers should take you to 0900 then 40 min break, do retrieval out the door for 1000ish , about right .
Off IPS at 6.50 'about right' - yeah ok :chuckle

IPS 6-8 almost every day in our office, it doesn't take 2 hours to prep a walk either unless it's extremely heavy.

If you have 20 people ready an hour early and the manager says to each of the 20 - here's an hours worth of delivery - you can go and do that - what do you say? If that was to happen each day 6 days a week that would be 120 hours or three full time duties.
You take it out because the time is there, what sort of arguement has anyone got when they're sat around at 8.30? We're only ever ready for that time on very light days, and then we collapse anyway.

I can't believe how many people on here complain about finish times and length of walks, then say they're only on IPS for 30-40mins a day.

MentalVortex wrote:Surely, then, the whole point is to do the bare minimum expected during sorting and prep so that no one's ready until this supposed 'exit time' (there has NEVER been one stipulated in our office until this 9:30 thing), but if they're still ready earlier everyone should just hang about drinking tea until the designated time, take their mail out, and anything undelivered at cut-off time is taken back to the office. Sounds like that would work.
It can work and does, every office should have a 318 which shows your time to leave the office and you work towards that. It's not a case of doing the bare minimum but more like just paceing yourself, and when people start to wake up and see that it's not a race you don't find you have so much spare time in a day. As for what you said about cut-off's, If you leave on time and don't complete then yes cut-off and bring it back. If your the only one doiing the job properly it can be hard, but if their's a majority then it's easy andit does work and protects jobs

If only ... still get fools rushing about , some of them want to take a long look into there actions cause they,ve contributed to making this job crap now :arrrghhh Why people want to rush out every day is behond me + the ones coming in early

FFS our second lorry doesn't arrive until 7am and we're lucky to finish at 7.45am but then it's a mad rush to get out the door by the 8.30 due time (at least for us rurals).
FFS we don't even start in our sub office till 7.20 first lorry here between 7.20-7.50 and walks are 4.5 hrs and to top it all our stupid union rep negotiated on our behalf a 3.40 finish wed, thurs, and friday.

Yep that's the benefit of being in a union - the definition of which is:

The act of uniting or joining two or more things into one, or the state of being united or joined; junction; coalition; combination.
