In Leeds it sounds even more solid than last time (when branch sec stated 98-9% of CWU members respected the strike) with weaker offices having stronger picket lines and less going in. At my DO 100% again (as far as we know, a part timer who could have possibly gone to work in another office). Over two thirds of staff attended the picket line of which always had 15-20 people on it, so it was always lively.

Well what a great day that was,got to West park Del Office at 2.45am,to find some scallywag had put a chain and lock over the front gate. Now we thought the strike breakers/delivery office managers would be in at 3am but to our horror there was no sign of them but at 4.50am a few turned up inc our manager who couldn't get in. Now there was 30 of us on the picket-line booing the strike breakers when a van turned up with 5 more strike breakers in it. They couldn't get in either,the van even hit our rep but he's okay. The van had to stay there with the strike breakers inside for 15 minutes listening to a chorus of boos and chats when the manager decided to go into work using the emergency exit taking the strike breakers with him,they all had to walk thru us which was pretty amusing.Honest has these strike breakers got blood flowing thru their veins???? Anyway another boss drove up with some saws hoping to saw thru the chain when the first one broke,the sound of cheers was deafening,unfortunately they managed to saw thru with a spare one they had but it was great fun watching these fools working a sweat!! Overall it was a great day,it was great seeing so many people beeping their horns,waving and clutching fists,i really feel we have the support of the people which is half the battle won. One of the guys on the line with us has a camper van with a cooker/grill in it so many burgers were eaten and quite a few drinks were drunk so we never went hungry. I left West Park around midday,tired,full and proud of the people on the line!!

One of the lads I used to work with came into work this afternoon - I asked him about the strike, and he said that not only were there just 4 (Part Time, Non Union Member) strike breakers at Hailsham DO, but the Manager was laughing and joking with the strikers as well. A first? :D

The CB Rurals were "solid" were they ??!! That'll be over 100 staff who worked out of 150ish. I drove throught the picket at Walden and there were 5 on each gate (5+5=10) and when I spoke to Fordy at Ely he had 18 in !! And why haven't you mentioned Newmarket and Haverhill ....... is that because over 70% of the staff worked in both of these offices ??
In Cambridge Mail Centre we had over 20% of staff in on the 3 shifts and Distribution. Forgot to mention that one too !!
I know you want to promote the CB area as "strong" but wake up and on strike 3 there'll be even more staff in.
Preston mail centre - total 1000 staff. 98% solid support. tremendous support. Picket strong through the day a very wet picket !!!

Done 4.30 to 9.30 today, small office and 8 strike breakers walked in, 1 on his week off and come in on docket. How disgracefull is that!!!! We have decided to go deaf with these twats and I want to tell our neighbouring office who they are so they can single them out. Lets name and shame these people.

This just goes to demonstrate the difference between the union's figures, and those produced by management. The managers include anyone on leave, sick, special leave, rest days etc as working. The union count them as not working. I have also not included as working those managers who disgrace themselves by performing OPG work during official industrial action.
