We currently draft in extra staff everyday to cover the almost impossible task of delivering the amount of mail in our office. What, so this new modernisation plan is going to improve and streamline our efficiency? Like the last modernisation plans? A case of watch this fail horrendously. We've got to ask ourselves what or who could possibly gain from the Royal Mail failing (and so being made easier to privatise)

Trouble is, what Royal Mail's planning teams say will happen in their little fantasy world, and what does happen in the real world, are always two completely different things.
I wonder where the cost cutting will be aimed at in 2011? :hmmmm

It's started already Harry. We have WSM and they are looking for 1 walk out per 10,000 items of WSM. :arrrghhh
Christ almighty! Is there ever going to be an end to this feckin' cost cutting nightmare?
I'd better start wondering about where the cnuts will look to cut costs in 2012! :nervous

Wouldn't any change in our USO have to be approved by parliament?
And if so, when are the CWU and Royal Mail going to make public the news that customers, both domestic and business, are thanks to the marvels of modern technology, going to get their mail even later than they currently do?

Didn't I read elsewhere on here that Postcomm have already agreed in principle (or have said they would not be adverse to) last letter for Town Walks being put back to 3pm and Rurals to 4pm?
I think you're right. Memo to self, try not to keep forgetting that I live in Rip-Off Britain. :evil/mad

First of all , some of you have said you believe I have been arrogant in my post. well let me apologise if thats how I came across.
I did say that - I guess you were getting a little fustrated with some of the responses you were getting.

Without you reporting on this we would be none the wiser.

So a big THANK YOU !!!!

The USO as far as i am aware does not have time of delivery within its remit.

As mclovins email from postcon stated its simply something for RM to decide, however parliment does have the power to introduce delivery times to the USO. It would require a bill to be put before parliment.

Just a matter of political will

I have just noticed the headline and I wonder if the truth could clarify it for me - should it read Royal Mail Commercial Delivery Strategy or closer to what it reads which would make it Royal Mail Comical Delivery Strategy - it's pretty obvious how it's going to turn out and perhaps they have put it forward in this manner to hedge their bets.

I didn't know he was still in the running but he's more than welcome to the hand maidens BD - TBH using both hands they couldn't get a raise out of me - I mean not with the recession and all :angel

The old boy is sill going, just coming to the end of his 1st year as branch sec. The current branch sec which was MWs previous job is seeking election to branch sec. Tough choice as MW has done a good job so far and the deputy branch sec would also make a very good Branch sec. The branch is very lucky to have two high quality canidates.

Political Officer is up for elction this year, quite possibly the 1st time since I joined CWU in 1991 branch chair vs a rep from a D.O HQ have informed us that only political levy paying members can take part in that election.

Area Processing rep and Branch Equality officer also being contested this year.

But Im not going far, I intend to get stuck into being active in the trades council that covers my town and the neighbouring town.

A most interesting year ahead!!!

I envy you your passion for these things - for my part - I only stand and stare these days, oh and criticise :angel Some members of my family take part in politics now and in the past but I haven't the stomach for it.

MW is obviously too grand to grace us with his prescence now and quite right too getting on with business unlike the old CWU Forum days - one that I was never banned from although they did close it down.

"They also presented there panellists results to argue that less then 8% of the mail was being delivered at 1400 to argue that all the hours in delivery units are not being worked."

Wow shocker!

Im supposed to return to the DO at 1350 so its obvious mail isnt being delivered at 1400

Are these people thick or what?

Do you mean Royal Mail taking bogus statistics and using them to their favour makes them thick.
Or the union buying any of this sh*t and negotiating our T&Cs around it makes them thick.
Or us voting yes to the agreement makes US thick.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
