It has been agreed to extend the national talks to the 22nd January. Talks will resume on 6th Janaury. A joint comms will be sent out later again.


The only fly in the ointment was that we were supposed to have the deal signed by now but ho hum you can't get everthing right.

Under the USO, we are obliged to deliver the last letter in towns by 2.00pm, if this changes to much later, how does it come about?
Wouldn't any change in our USO have to be approved by parliament?
And if so, when are the CWU and Royal Mail going to make public the news that customers, both domestic and business, are thanks to the marvels of modern technology, going to get their mail even later than they currently do?

It's started already Harry.We have WSM and they are looking for 1 walk out per 10,000 items of WSM.

Didn't I read elsewhere on here that Postcomm have already agreed in principle (or have said they would not be adverse to) last letter for Town Walks being put back to 3pm and Rurals to 4pm?

Postcomm insist its not their remit, heres the email they sent me on Jan 8 2010:

Postcomm does not regulate Royal Mail’s collection and delivery times, therefore this would be a matter for Royal Mail to decide.

Royal Mail states that it aims to complete deliveries by 2pm in urban areas and by 3pm in rural areas. Postcomm has not been informed of any changes to this aim.

All staffing issues regarding rounds would be the responsibility of Royal Mail and is not an area that Postcomm can become involved in.

I think one statement sums it up really .
1000 items in 19 minutes
So by Super efficient RM standards each delivery officer should be capable of prepping 6 and 2/3 trays every 19 minutes.
I think you can judge the rest of their plans by that
Hands up how many of you can do that?
Still on the bright side, when the entire workforce is dismissed for failing to attain operational standards,there will be no problem signing on cos you did not make yourself intentionally unemployed. Wonder how the royal marine fitness instructor will cope? Who will deliver the mail?
