Re: SATURDAY WORKING
I can't see MC staff working on Saturdays in the future (only DO staff), Sunday night to Friday night would be the way of the future.

Re: SATURDAY WORKING
It will be if RM get their way, I personally don't want to work until 5pm every Saturday but unless we stop RM now then it will happen, with the resultant knock on to MC staff.nationwide wrote:DGP1 wrote:I can't see MC staff working on Saturdays in the future (only DO staff), Sunday night to Friday night would be the way of the future.

Re: SATURDAY WORKING
9-5 working saturday is a easy way for RM to get rid of staff and replace them with part-time workers. Mass exodus will occur if the union allow this. Plus where is the workers work-time balance on this issue.

What has happened to Royal mails promise of 'FAMILY FRIENDLY' saturdays. Surely Royal mail aren't going to go back on their words and promises - how unlike Royal mail management?

Re: SATURDAY WORKING
Family friendly is fine, but we run a six days a week collection and delivery operation.
I have been doing Saturdays & Sundays for year as have many others have done and when you join you know the conditions. A dustman knows he will be out in all weathers and can get a bit mucky, it goes with the territory I am affraid.
I know all the arguements about family friendly, but because my family have now grown up does that now mean I have to work extra ones ?
My growing family I need to see even more now, life is a balance and for a long time I never got it right between work and home. So many of us have had to work long hours away from home over the years and I agree where we can we should make every opportunity for those who want FFs to get them, trouble is a lot use it to get extra O/T or to do other things. Families seem far from some peoples minds, but the idea of a bit of a fiddle seems a good un.
Of course you could moan a lot and maybe, just maybe the whole operation will switch to a Mon - Fri operation and then you can hope you are not one of the 16% of staff they could get rid of ............................................................

Re: SATURDAY WORKING
Royal Mail are obliged to collect and deliver on a Sat. End of , no riggling out of it as its enshrined in Law. Royal Mail canot change this. And I agree with the last post postman knew they had to work Saturdays from day 1. Why moan about it now?

are strange too. Doesn't he know RM is going to dispense with Sunday night, and process that mail on Sunday day? Been on RMC enough recently..
So, working Sunday day shift but not Saturday? Yep, that makes really good sense...
